I want to thank Rick ( Charging10 on Red Square) and his wife Shirley for dropping off a pair of 854 front wheels today in Greencastle , Indiana at the Putnam County Museum parking lot! I contacted Rick over a week ago about some front wheels he had for sale and I wanted them. However, he lives in Rolling Prairie, Indiana about three hours away. I told him I would have to pass on them as shipping would cost too much and I was unable to get up there. Well low and behold he tells me he and Shirley were going to make a trip to Nashville, Indiana and they could meet me in Greencastle on the way. I was surprised and appreciative but even more surprised when Rick sent me a picture with the wheels stacked on the back of his Harley! They were bringing them on the back of the Harley! Thank you Rick and Shirley!

Sent 10 wheels to a friends for blasting and powder coating. I’m impressed by the results, how many hours have I lost wire wheeling and spraying in the wind!!!

This weekend must be free dump weekend in town. I passed by this on my way in for some essentials and figured if it’s still there when I go back through... it was meant to be. I grabbed it, called my “brother from another mother” and asked if he needed it. It’s good to pass on the valuables sometimes!

In 1938 “Donut Day” was established as a way to honor the members of the Salvation Army that came to the aid of soldiers during World War I. Nowadays, National Donut Day is widely celebrated on the first Friday of June. Many donut shops are known to give them away for free, giving a good reason to take some time out of the day to enjoy this most cherished treat.

Because I now have the fever, I took the day off and spent it giving my new 310-8 a thorough servicing. I found out last night (Thanks WheelHorseForum!) she's a 1989. Removed mower deck, side panels, shifter panel and battery so I could see what's going on inside. Looks good overall! Greased all fittings - looks like it hadn't been done in a long while. Applied lithium grease to all linkages, steering column, everything. Lubed throttle and choke cables. Adjusted throttle cable - looks like it slipped on the engine clamp and was not reaching full throttle Reconnected clutch safety switch, solder/shrink tubing. Previous owner cut the wires twisted them together, kinda, and duct taped them. Removed very noisy starter and added light machine oil to the shaft. She's as quiet as a....well...a Kohler starter now. Had to remove dipstick to remove starter. Dumb, Kohler. Adjusted brake. Was very loose. Might need to get a new band soon. Brake drum has a lot of oil on the hub. Bad seal? Adjusted PTO (like 5 times lol) and PTO brake. .012... I ended up setting it at .015. Once I tightened the bolts at .012, it closed up more making the brake drag a bit. Replaced missing bolt from lower PTO bracket. The entire bracket was loose. Yikes! Replaced the battery. Was at 11.5 volts after overnight 2A charge. Stole it from my old tractor. Removed, tested and reinstalled keyswitch. Previous owner replaced it with generic and it wasn't aligned properly. Cleaned, stripped and repainted battery hold down. (It's the little things that make us happy) Cleaned, lubed and inspected mule drive. Looks good! Did a quick service on the deck. Added about 10 pumps of grease to each spindle and none came out. Was not happy about that! Need to replace deck belt, so once I get that, I will do a full service tear down on the deck. I also found a hole in the deck, pretty big, size of a quarter near the height adjuster. Half-assed repair was done previously. Can't believe I missed that earlier, but not too big of a deal to repair properly. The rest of it looks solid. All the baffles underneath are solid. Didn't have SAE 30 or 90, so I still need to change the oil. Hopefully tomorrow I can get out and buy some. I'm pretty sure there's more that I've forgotten. And then I mowed my side yard, while my elderly neighbor and best friend sat in my driveway drinking a beer and watching me. He's happy for me that my years-long quest has finally come to fruition. LMAO! And then my nephew showed up with 2 friends in a GIANT diesel flatbed to pick up my tiny Husqvarna YTH-180 tractor. You could easily put an F-350 dually on this thing. Like using a freight train to move a single grain of rice. I should've gotten a pic. Hilarious. A good day! Is it normal that my Wheel Horse is in the garage and my car in the driveway? I thought so.

Years back I bought a used pallet jack from a fellow we frequently shipped produce to. He sent it back inside a 48' tractor trailer that was deadheading back to Florida. Driver showed up and told the packinghouse foreman he had a full load of equipment for me . I hadn't told him this was coming so he called me out to the packing house to inspect the delivery, doors swung open and the foreman about fell out laughing over the "full load".

And here it is in a catalogue... The larger belt guard is shown as a production item to satisfy your health and safety codes. Could not have found that information without Cas pointing the way. Mick

reminds me of a baby shower my wife attended a long table top was set on top of a trailer (few if any probably realized this because the trailer was mostly covered by tablecloth, etc) when it was time to clean up - and to the amazement of many in attendance - a young gal grabbed a small tractor and hooked it to the trailer / table and then towed it to a small barn / shed two thumbs up !

After mowing the lawn yesterday and then getting a 1/2" of rain this morning made the perfect conditions for rolling the the lawn today. I hooked up my C-141 to the lawn roller that I got from @dclarke for some high speed action. I rolled my whole lawn in low 1. To take this picture I set the tractor on "auto pilot" and stepped off for a photo shoot. This C-141 is such a sweet running machine. I can hardly believe that I only paid $125 for it, plus I got a C-101 parts tractor included in the deal. What a great score. Denny, the roller works great!! The only change that I might make is to shorten the axle stubs a bit. I hooked them on a few things in the yard while I was rolling, nothing serious, just a couple of nicks.

It is a Craftsman from the early 40's manufactured by Atlas. Usually they have that cover but without the Art-Deco decoration. Pretty rare cover to see.

A solid rod would present a couple of problems. The rock shaft on your lift makes an arc as it moves and the lift at the rear of the also makes an arc, both of which are lower than the top of your transmission. A bracket could be fabricated to fit a small 12 volt linear actuator to the lift. when you do it.

AAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!! Donuts Doughnuts Num num num Interesting point of useless trivia... In the Old West donuts didn't yet have holes and were referred to as "bear sign". An excerpt from Kaye Spencer: Cowboys in the Old West called doughnuts ‘bear sign’, and they were a delicacy they would ride miles out of their way to enjoy. The slang bear sign came about because these doughnuts didn’t look like the modern day doughnuts we know. They more closely resembled a pile of (bear scat), hence, bear sign (a sign that bears were in the area).

Got some goodies in the mail today. Still have a few more things that havent arrived yet but here is what I did today. The seat on the C-161 was bad. It was just a piece of foam over the seat pan with a ripped up vinyl cover over it. The PO even poured glue all over and tried to glue another piece of vinyl over the entire seat. It was a mess. So I took your advice and ordered one from AGRI Supply. Not a bad seat for the money. Big improvement over what was there. The other little package that came today was from @Vinylguy . Thank You for the decals they look FANTASTIC !. The one side was melted pretty good and peeling and wrinkled so I thought new decals but not going to paint it. Learned my leason with the Lambert ! So with the brand new seat and the new set of decals the tractor is looking much better. Still waiting on a couple more things but here is how it came out. Oh the hood decals are an off white, something @Vinylguy was making. He said he might make it an option. Thanks Again I love them!!!

Thanks guys! It was a bear!! My dad did come and help with the mixing. He can’t lift the bags, so he would man the mixer and I added the concrete when it was time. Just having the company and extra help made a huge difference. Dad and I work well together! Now, I can sit back and watch the paint, er concrete dry!!
