I would like to show you my winter project, i call it the TUB-RAT. I was totally in love with the car and motorcycle that @wallfish made and wanted to do something myself but how could i be different? I also challenged myself to use only parts i had laying around and some steel from the scrapyard. I had an idea and layed some parts out here was the rough draft of my idea Here it is at a later stage fitting the steering wheel position still a long way to go I kept plugging away at it and this is what i came up with it has a 3speed transaxle, and standard long frame. I used a kohler k161 from a gear reduction snowblower. The only place i splurged was on front tires thanks @Achto for the white wall idea. My image i tried to use as a model was an old T bucket. Well here she is TUB-RAT

Had a rainy day so got some time. Not much of an update but I did finally get the front tires made which is the longest time to make parts left to do.

When you live in the boondocks you have to live off the shelf frequently. Picked up a mil surplus roll pin assortment and a tube fitting assortment at a Military Vehicle show this week (One of my other hobbies). One thing I can be sure of even with all these things probably still won't have the right one for my next emergency. Also a 1.5kw generator.

@Mows4three Here's the pictures you wanted of the train ride from today. Trina took her mom on a tourist train ride which leaves North Conway New Hampshire and travels eight or nine miles north, northeast to a small station in a valley of the White Mountains. At that point the engine uncouples from one end of the train and connects to the other end and the ride is reversed back to North Conway. One of our hiking buddies came with us as well. It was a fantastic trip. We toured the inside of the old station which is a museum now and also the yard which is its own museum in a way. There's also an HO scale setup that began being built in 1971 and is still being modified to this day. I don't know how long the railroad has been in Northern New Hampshire but one of the buildings at this site dates to 1872. There was some information in the station showing that the logging industry was absolutely massive in that area back in the day. We finished off the excursion with an ice cream. Very very long-standing tradition with Trina and her family.

Trial fit. Chainsaw, fuel, small bottle of chain oil, toolbox and hard hat. And finished. I have added a strip of foam rubber along the back top edge, to prevent damage to the paint should it bounce up.

I would remove the L wire for the lights from the ignition switch connector. If you do not know how to do that ask. Move that wire to the new light switch. To get power for the new light switch I would tap into the R wire going to the ignition switch. That way the the lights will be OFF when the ignition switch is OFF and ON with the engine running and new light switch ON. Click on the pictures Garry

Finally took the Deuce off of Kelli’s RED (523Dxi) and slapped the monster 60” deck on there in time to help Caleb finish cutting the lawn. He was giving JackRabbit(418-C) a workout for the third time this season. Judge (my 8 year old) helped me do the switch over and so while Caleb and I were mowing, I let him wake up Vader (Super C) and tool around the yard awhile—staying away from us. That KT-19 sure sounds tough even just cruising the yard at half throttle!

Here’s the first of my stuff to post. I’ve got a very nice running 754. Serial number is correct for a 754, as is the 7hp engine. This is an older restoration with some paint peeling, but is still very presentable. Tractor has an all thread rod for a tie rod, but good tie rod ends. The throttle knob is chipped, but I may have another original. The seat has a rem minor cracks, but they haven’t weakened it. Engine runs smooth, starts easy with no smoke or noises. Transmission works great in all gears. I need to switch the wires on the ammeter - I accidentally reversed them. Asking $800 OBO. Remember there aren’t many of these out there! SOLD

Just got the piece welded together today and put back on the tractor with the muffler. What a sweet sounding muffler it is! It did end up moving it back some which is what I wanted it to do.

Use a magnetic parts bowl as the base, gorilla glue your desire length of PVC to the OD of the lip, and BOOM. Removable cup holder. *You could even get an end and cut the center out of it so that it’s just a ring with a lip. Put the parts bowl in it with a thin bead of adhesive on the bottoms side of the lip. Then you have another surface to put adhesive where the cap overlaps the pipe Shouldn’t cost much if you wait for them to be the Harbor Freight coupon of the week. Go buy a 3 dollar tarp and get the bowl free 😂 Not that I’ve ever done that.

Yeah that sucks ---- Maybe tooting my own horn here ... but heres a story of a sale I had. For a while I was rebuilding/refurbing metal tooling and I had a newly finished metal lathe listed on CL for $2500 and quickly got a bite, guy saying he'd be there the next afternoon. I told him it;d be here. Short time later get a call from a town some 300 miles away guy says he'd go $3000, I said no I'd made a deal already. First guy shows up as he said and as we are loading the other guy calls again and said he'd go $3500!! Geez! I paused a minute and told him no! Didnt take but a minute to figure I had a bird in hand and not in the bush. I was happy and the buyer was crazy happy (It was a nice lathe) He called me 2 times later to brag on it and how proud he was of it. Good deal for both of us.....

Right now i just have spacers and they are bolted between the hub and rim, seems to be holding up right now and i have been bouncing this thing around the yard in 3rd gear. That being said i have plans to weld plates between the spacers sinilar to the WH dual spacers.

Having been give some felled, actually ripped out with a digger, trees, that are in a field close by. To make life a little bit easier, I decided to make a box for chainsaw etc, rather than have carry them in the trailer, then on top of a load of wood. I'll be using my Sears GT16 for trailer duty as usual, so I made this out of scrap wood. That fits on the front of the Sears. The hitch pit has to be removed to fit it and stops it from sliding out. Next was a box. Again made from scrap wood salvaged when I dismantled the dog kennel. 9" deep x 19" x 36". The box has yet to be finished, but it has been tested for strength. It takes my weight, all 12-1/2 stone so should be fine for the chainsaw etc.

I like the low back seat because it's easier to get on and off the tractor. I'm not all that tall, so throwing a leg over the seat back is more difficult the higher the seat.

Some of the shafts have a collar with a set screw as shown and some are located with a snap ring below the collar.Check the dash tower for bends or cracks.People pulling on the steering when they mount can distort the thin metal of the dash tower.

I took that into consideration when building, that is why i drilled and tapped the ends and installed with loctite grade 8 washers and bolts to hold the spindles into the axle

How about this? NOS Pt. No. WHumbrla001 w/ cup.foldable. Saw one on CL for $495.00. Easy, added benefit of shade with cup, and you do not need to attach anything to the tractor that might be construed as altering it's all original status... The dude in the ball cap does not come with the umbrella and can be replaced by anyone...husband, wife, significant other, chimpanzee...

How about taking a picture and sending it to Terry.

Very nice use of spare WH parts and you certainly met the challenge of using them. One thing to be very careful of, is trusting the snap rings for the front spindles if that's the only support holding them. They WILL pop loose.

Your brother in law is right. If you drink them fast they will not go flat. That job is not for sippers. It is for gulpers.

Wow, you guys are good. And you stay up late. I'm not sure if it's age related or me learning the Amish habits, but it seem we sleep from dusk to dawn.

The C-111 originally had a B&S engine with magneto ignition. I believe they used a battery ignition switch to control an isolation relay which grounded the ignition to shut it off. If the Kohler has battery ignition the seat switch wiring is different. Garry

Noting Squonk's post I asked my brother inlaw about his use of the cup holder on his mower. He said it was to hold the empties.

If you carry beer or pop in it, they will get flat rather quick from the bouncing.

Pull cotter pin 5-17 and stack in more shims 5-15 to, in effect, pull the fan gear back into the steer column gear.
  45. 3 points
Correct. I use it mostly to make pegs to pin tenons. The ones peened on one side are for making dowels with glue ridges.

Thank you all. So far it’s been great. Started out early today, treated my truck to a full wash, then off to get some bagels. First sunny day in a while around here, so got some seat time on the 416-H, got most of the lawn mowed, except where newly formed lakes are. was able to take a nice long drive in the convertible, all by myself, the off to Texas Roadhouse for a wonderful meal with my family. Now just sitting here reading these Birthday wishes, great to read these, they really added to a fantastic day, waiting for my cake now, then maybe a couple beers on the deck with the puppies.

Speaking of harbor freight magnetic merchandise.... you could take two of those magnetic strips they sell to put on a wall and hold tools and put them on the underside of a nice piece of plywood and you’ve got yourself a Wheel Horse drive in tray that’ll stay put. You can add a cup holder to that how ever you want 😂

I bought these, as well as some 1/4" fuel hose yesterday to fix my fuel tank/line situation. Now I should be able to start and run the C-85.
