I finally got Emory’s Work Horse 100%. New carb made it start easy and purr like a kitten! Even his headlights work😁. He bought what we were told was a 603 at the show last summer and it took the efforts of several folks to get it going so Emory could ride it in the rain! Now, I’ve got to put on a fuel pump so it doesn’t run out of gas going up hill. It originally had a Tillotson updraft carb on it, carter now. I’ve sealed the gas tank and need to clean it up good to give it a coat of clear and paint the wheels. He wants to keep it original looking. I took a picture of the serial number. Is this in fact a 603 or a tractor that was repowered and made into a 603? It had 633 on the belt guard. Doesn’t matter either way, but I’ll probably let Emory think it’s a 603 even if it isn’t. That was the reason he wanted it so badly. I’ll do some pics as I go, but it isn’t going to be as involved as his Work Horse. Next up is a project for me - cleaning and painting up the D160 I got at the show last summer.

I had one of these when I was 10 or 11, LONG time ago {55 now},loved that tractor! Didn't have a deck on it,I would just use it to cruise around town and back in the woods. One of Few good childhood memories with my father.A few weeks ago,This came up local to me on FB marketplace for $50.00! I bought it,plan on restoring in the spring.Complete, less seat. Will post pictures when completed.Look forward to being on your forum.

I got the big yellow locust loaded up on my 5x8 utility trailer earlier today, from what you see on the ground to it all just barely fit on the trailer, left shoulder gave me a fit afterwards but I'll call it my physical therapy.

I got my FEL adapted and l’m now all set to plow, just need some snow. All I need to add are the chains. Since my driveway is concrete I decided to go with rubber chains. The 1/16” black plastic coated wire rope is my “ low tech” solution for changing the angle on the blade. Next project is adapting the tiller.

First barn find of 2019! Not sure what the year of tractor is. Never seen this cart up close, only in toy form.

Emory came home a little while ago and we’ve talked about his tractor. I explained that the 633 would have the recoil start also and that the Tillotson is one of the identifying features. He said that if it is a 633, that he’s ok with that. The thing he liked about it at the show was the recoil start. Go figure! He explained that he thinks less of the recoil start tractors are around because folks want electric start motors. I tried to talk him into a 753, but he was set on this little guy. Guess all works out in the end!

Thanks all! Today was a good day. I worked on a tractor after spending some good family time.

I worked on my sons 1077 that's in the garage. It was missing all the parts to hook up the throttle cable to the governor. I have a old parts tractor out back and was able to steal the parts from it. Found out the throttle cable has been shortened at some point in its life. I will need to find a new one. I also found the choke cable I had stashed away (amazing how parts just seem to disappear when you need them). Unfortunately it's missing the nut for the back side. Back to the drawing board. A certain 7 year old will be happy once it's all done.

I rolled the bigger blocks on while the tailgate/ramp was down. I messed my right shoulder up 6-7 years ago so I got a good idea how far to go when working so I won't over do it on purpose.

I installed these lights in the 312-8 a couple of weeks ago never got a chance to try them out. At I:00 am this morning I got it out, they really put out the light. They are Cree 24 watt LED got them off ebay don't remember the site 4 lights for $28 with free shipping. They were a real pain to mount. I though I could mount them behind the 312 light mount, but there wasn't enough room. I had to take the lights apart just to get them mounted in front of the 312 bracket. The light are front flange mounted. I tried to get a picture last night but could not find a way to turn off the flash on my camera.

I reached out to John ( @wallfish ) and he set me straight. They go in opposite and are check valves, fuel is incoming thru the right side of my pic, leaves the fuel pump thru the left side with the 90 degree fitting. Learned something today.. thanks John!!

So this morning Scottie’s suprapubic catheter was not draining for him so we came back to St. Mary’s to get his catheter flushed. The medical team here decided to drain his bladder through his urethral stent for now. He is in tons of pain and they have given him some IV meds to help with the pain. Scottie’s urology doctor is here helping him through this. Their plan is replace the suprapubic catheter on Tuesday after both medical teams meet with Scottie. We don’t know as of yet whether or not he will need surgery or what they plan on doing. We will wait and see. Scottie did get sent home with some good medication to help with his bladder spasms and his bladder pain.

He is. I busted my shin on his trailer hitch today. It came with a big home made bar in the hitch. Every time I take it out he puts it back.

Thanks Richard. It’s going to be a nice vintage looking tractor for him. Unlike myself, he likes the looks of the older tractors in the work clothes. The condition of the two tractors I fixed for his Christmas tractors were so poor to start with that a full on resto/mod was the only route. I like a tractor fixed back like it would have been new for myself with the exception of the little 58 rj I finished last fall. My D160 is now minus all of its paint, but remains a very straight solid machine, so it will get new decals and a coat of Regal Red. This little guy will be cleaned good, sanded, and cleared to preserve its history.

@Coulter Caleb and I both had a chance to do some night driving on Skittles at the Big Show. Those lights work great! I joked with Richie that if his local airport had an emergency airplane night landing without light that he could just park Skittles on the runway with the lights on for a safe landing or if his street lights ever fail, just park Skittles at the end of the street and turn the lights on! seriously, it is a great design other than if you tilt your knees out board because they get in the way of the light beams. I think they would work well on a winter snow blowing tractor because they are higher than the blower and light up so much surface area— plus they are super tough looking

And it snows snows snows... continousely. Wet heavy Snow. Storage capacity drops.... Fun with heavy Wet Snow.. Grip looses, no weight available so i have to use Chains... but they from an Mercedes Light truck an won't fit. have to improvise them to fit... It looks they work, use the FEL to store a bit wet Snow in the Garden for later sledge riding..😂 Space is cleaned, all snow was as good as possible out of the way and one Gallon of fuel was dumped. The both Lift cylinders down was very slow, so work with empty FEL take its time. Lifting is more as tripple speed, usefull to work. maybe this was indebted by Bio- Oil for the FEL, beased upon its viscosity. but it does it's work. trying several tests today while working, the best fuel Engine economy was at 2600 rpm. wet snow is damn heavy, but my FEL was stronger even if it's made of Aluminum..(proud about) chains are required, but they have to Fit... Otherwise you loosing them in worsest situation.... rear weight make absolutely sense, actual i mounted today a old defect Car Battery on the back with about 17 Kilos.. more weight needed urgently...think it must be at least 40-50 Kilos i need on back. but it works, even not everything was perfect - it slips sometimes, but get mostly enough grip to move itself. The Belts keep going and shall be perfect after changing. No slip in the Drivetrain itself. after finalize, i found - no Power at all, the complete valley without Power... no coffe now - aaaaaarrrgggghhh..

Put the tool box and fenders back on Putt Putt and realized how dirty it is! Plus, how good it still looks “fully dressed”!

You know that you are spoiling Emory. Keep up the good work!
  21. 3 points
Thanks! I thought it probably wasn’t a 603, but everything except the engine match perfectly in patina. I figured it was repowered. Like I said, I’ll rebadge it as 603, even if it is a 633 since Emory was so excited with it. I think it will make a sweet looking patina ride.

Last year I built a shelf to hold 2 tractors on top and 2 under. This year I had to expand it to hold 3 on top and 3 the bottom. This frees up a bunch of prime garage space.

Thanks for all the help. I knew I could count on you all for help. The Eagle has landed. After going to many sewing stores . And internet searches, with no luck? The last store I went to? A little old lady ( customer), Says" Excuse me young man. I don't mean to butt in. But, have you tried Creative sewing"? " I don't know where that is. I say". 'Well, it is just down the road a ways. They fix sewing machines. They may have some, if anyone does." I walk in the store, which seems to be more geared towards quilting and such. With the 1 bobbin I have . The sales lady that is also 1 of the owners, looks at it and says, "Oh, thats a blah, blah." Cuz, thats what it sounded like to me . Low and behold? They have 25 of them. The skies lit up, the choir started singing !!! I went home with 6 of them. My hero status is intact. Thanks again for the help.... Pat

And solve the hard starting problem caused be the fuel leaking back to the tank allowing the fuel pumps lose their prime.

I did put these in there but I got the idea from looking at some of the larger farm tractors that had headlights in the fender fronts. I though “I could do that” so I tried it. Came out pretty good I think. Pain in the butt to mount them. Had to cut the front out and build a mount. Like this👍

You’re such a good dad . Remember I’m still up for adoption and come with at least ten tractors plus a hoard of round hood parts .

Happy Birthday @stevebo! Thanks for being a part of what made my 2018 Big Show a great time, and for showing me how to “polish a turd”! Steve’s wet sanding methods rock, y’all!

Received the belts Friday. Had some time this afternoon to install one and till part of the garden. I really like this tractor AND the tiller! Works real good.

Would love to have a Lawn Skiff myself. This is all I have for those. If you get me a straight on image and dimensions of the front steering column decal I will be able to include it with this kit? I had worked on the instruction decal under the steering wheel but unfortunately it was one of the files I lost in the hard drive crash.

I have moved it to the marked hole, and it started up and ran just fine. Just to be sure, since it had already been warmed up, I’m going to see how she starts here in a few hours after sitting over night.

hello Kyle, simple swap to see if the cable mount works better on the other hole, another thing that is vital for smoother operation is the mounting clasps to hold down the cable, allowing the inside wire to work. often you can use a screw from the tin work to add a cable mount point, also vertically hold the cable and LUBRICATE IT , till it drips out, now it will easily work your linkage, pete

I went ahead and put it into the marked hole for kicks and giggles and it works. Actually seems to run a little smoother lol. We just might!

Or just remove the wobble mount stuff and bolt the engine directly to the frame.

Looks right to me, your cable probably isn't long enough to travel that far for the second hole.

Really liking the 753. It did a great job plowing snow, and with the added weight hardly spun a tire. 55 lb outside weights on the rear wheels and 255 lbs seat ballast. Might see about getting some chains, just in case. Sorry the picture is so dark..... but it was getting dark. Mrs. TIG turned the yard light on for me.

My old Wheel Horse Dealer Haywood Richmond had a saying " The road to Hell is paved with plastic." He should know: He sold G.E appliances and the Wheel Horses back then had very little plastic.

Got new shoes on the Charger 10. Once I got them on things looked a little wonky still, so after hemming and hawing between my FIL and myself, and @ebinmaine and myself we took the (left side as your sitting on it) tie rod off to give it a look see. Seems reseating it fixed our problem as it was loose at the wheel when I went at it. Since this one is in rougher shape than our 8horse, and I haven’t really looked it over much I was looking for visible things that could be issues. But I have a curiosity question: is this where the chokes supposed to be hooked in, or should it be at the hole where my finger is? Haven’t had any problems getting it fired up, I just happened to notice that there was a second hole marked “Choke”. *edit: The Misses finally got to drive it 99FF1B18-EA6A-466E-AB71-A68181FC8D40.MOV

Since Scottie started his new antibiotic on Wednesday there has been no relief. His bladder infection is causing him so much pain and discomfort. We have got everything that the doctors can give him for his pain and discomfort while we are at home. The next step is to go back to Rochester and start some IV pain medication and IV fluids. In talking to his medical team we know that Scottie should start having some relief come Monday. If Scottie and I are lucky we may get about 3 hours of sleep a night. Please continue to pray for us as we go through this. Lowell, Scottie, and I would like to say thank you for all the continued support and cards that are coming in for our family. Each day Scottie asks if there is anything in the mailbox for him. (That’s one of his highlights). Too see him light up when he gets a card or anything makes my heart smile.

Yes they are. They are 2" 10 watt LED lamps mounted together with a small tab that comes with them. Just search 2" LED spot lamp Sorry to put my mug in there but here is how they look. That was my first test drive after getting it together. Still have some small tweaks to do on her. The lights work great but you have to watch your legs or they get in the way of the light. @PeacemakerJack can vouch for how well they work.
