Hi guys how's everyone doing today and a merry Christmas to all of you. Starting a new project

We since I'm on the road I don't have any tractors with me. We are sitting for 6 months in Florida in an RV park, so I brought along my original 1975 Schwinn Stingray five-speed that was mine since new. It was in need of some attention so I tore it apart and started re-doing it. It needed new tires, brake shoes, cables and some new screws/bolts here and there. I switched the original thumb shift to the Krate style "Stik Shift" which is more desirable if you are familiar with the old Stingrays. Anyway here are some pics. Before Polished front rim and brake caliper New sneakers I'll post some more as I go. Not a tractor, but it's all I got

Looking good there Zeekster. Started my '65 Stingray resto back in 2003... and it's still awaiting paint, currently sitting down in the basement with the Mrs Rules' original Fair Lady. We still enjoy riding them, though on a vary rare occasion these days. Good to hear, you and the Mrs Zeek are doing OK.

Ooooo!! Your are looking for some thing practical. Here I was trying to find you an old Massey with cable lift on the arms and a trip bucket. This one does have forks.

I've seen them walk past on the show also, for some reason they can't hear you when you yell at the TV. While on a job in Nashville a few years ago I took the opportunity to stop by their store. They don't have the big building that you would be led to believe from the show. The old auto factory was turned into a strip mall and they have a small store in it. Talking to employee's, I found out that they take down everyone else's signs when they film the out side of it. Not much around the area other than the strip mall either. Most things in the store were out of my reach cash wise, about all I could swing was a T-shirt . It was cool to be able to check out the VanDutch motorcycle, wish that it hadn't been so buried with other displays.

Thanks! I have been slacking on the posts for a couple of reasons to include no free wifi where I'm at. We use a jetpack and hotspot so we have to a little judicial with data . Plus I have been so dang busy here believe it or not. Plus I decided to bring my 1975 Schwinn Stingray along as restoration project since I don't have any tractor with me I have been looking for some NOS parts like brake shoes and "Stik Shift" that I'm in the process of refurbing. Fortunately, I have a shed to work in where my RV is parked, but it's drywalled and has a nice floor so I'm not at liberty to trash it as I would like

I’ve only seen them buy one Wheel Horse. A model 633 I think it was and Frank bought it.

In a society that often focuses on the evil, I’d like to start a thread that centers on one of the great gifts we have around us—kids! I have seen so many cool posts on here of stuff that your kids or grandkids have done and it is amazing. I’m not a fan of praising mediocrity (“everyone gets a blue ribbon!”) but I love to encourage and praise kids who work hard and excell at what they do whether that be drama, sports, crafts, art, mechanics, and the list could go on and on. I know some of you are private and would not care to share names or pics and I respect that but if your kid or grandkid has done something special, please share it here to we can give an ”atta’ boy” or “you go girl” to pass along to them. I think kids are capable of so much more than this society allows. When a child puts for the effort to excel at something, they should be praised and cheered on to even greater success. I want my children to be even better individuals than I am. I had a dad tell me once, “you don’t want your son to be better at basketball than you are, do you?” —WHAT???— I want my son to be better at anything that he puts his mind to than I am. I want to teach him the things that I know in a given area and then see him take the next step and grow beyond my teaching by searching out even more gifted individuals than I am to grow his talents further than I can take him. I honestly can’t wait for the day that my children say to me, “Dad, let me show you how to do this or can I help you with that?” So...the purpose of the thread is to showcase your kids’ or grandkids’ talents and/or interesting and funny stories about them. Kids say things that are absolutely hilarious at times and have antics that warm our hearts daily if we take the time to soak them in. Some kids don’t have many talents with their hands but they can minister to people’s hearts through their caring and sharing. Whatever things that you care to post that can be a blessing or encouragement to the rest of us and/or something that we can enjoy with you... Maybe you don’t have any kids. That hasn’t kept many good people from reaching out and making an impact in nieces and nephews or neighborhood kids. One of my favorite husband and wife duo 4th grade Sunday school teachers never were able to have kids but they have spent nearly 35 years of their marriage investing into other peoples’ kids. They taught me in the mid 1980’s and now they are teaching my third born in Sunday school! Speaking of my third born, Judge (his nickname). He likes to read and invests himself in a variety of things that second graders like to do. However until he came home with this, I had no idea that he was such an artist... For an 8 year old, I was very pleased with this free hand work. I like it so much that it will get framed and hung on our wall annually with our other Christmas decorations! I can’t wait to hear the stories and see the wonderful gifts that children have been and are to you...

Same is true for Pawn Stars! I keep telling the wife, "Reality TV" has nothing to do with REALITY, it is just a TV show. That being said, they are better than most of the other crap programming on TV.

Just looking at the pics not much heart burn. The big money would be in pulling the frame straight, that is a little unpredictable. As far as welding on the oil tower no big deal. I've welded on oil sump tanks. That's a small amount of weld..... just can't burn through. Looking at the machine and how it was before, it would be a shame not to fix it right. Plus I sure would not want it to fail catastrophically.
  17. 3 points
If I was making those weld repairs, I would want the whole machine. That would enable the correct fit and straightness of the repairs.

I had a whole plethora of BMX and freestyle bikes when I was a teenager back in the mid-eighties. I still have my original mountain bike I bought brand new in the spring of 1989. Leftover 1988 model Shogun. I'm glad I didn't wait to get the new model because my best friend did, and his exact same model as mine 3 months later had lesser quality derailleurs and brakes. I still have a neat little collection hanging from my ceiling in my workshop shed. Several mountain bikes and several road bikes. Nice job on that bike. Thanks for sharing.

I think dells68 is right. Spring is from a RJ-58 #5003 transmission...between the brake band and the little hoobie-doobie mounted under a side plate bolt.

Progress has been slow but will speed up after Christmas. Ordered a new key switch from a-ztractor.com today. I was able to get to the shop today And check out the engine parts that Gary got Powder coated. Definitely non traditional. The pulley was the last to get done. It is a bit darker than the hood. No idea what paint the PO used for the hood. After seeing it I'm thinking we should have used that powder on everything but I kind of like the 3 colors together also. Will remove the engine next winter and redo it all red if it starts bothering me. I'll see how I like it once we reassemble everything.

So Scottie is still having his fevers at night and the team is thinking that they are caused by the hematoma in his pelvic area. They want to make sure before we leave that they covered all basis. Scottie has started therapy and he has mastered the sliding board, right foot pivot transfer and getting in and out of a vehicle. Lowell and I have learned how to assist him with his transfers and his daily activities. We have the hospital bed at home and tomorrow (Saturday) we will be getting his wheel chair, commode, and sliding board. With the help from God, maybe we can be home for Christmas! I want to apologize for not updating you for a couple of days but I have been learning how to care for Scottie and sleeping when I can, so I can be strong for Scottie.

Looking at those banana seats is making my butt hurt! I had a plain Western Auto Buzz Bike whilst my friends had all the fancy multi speed jobs. Didn't have much money but my brother's 26 inch old geezer bike was in the barn. It had fenders, headlight, spring loaded book rack, spring seat and low -rise handle bars.I tore all that off. I had a extra set of monkey bars so all I needed to buy was a banana seat. I made a giant Buzz Bike out of it.I discovered the big wheels meant faster speed with less pedaling. Think was a tank and excellent off roader.

I get it about the $$ of the front mounted blowers but rear mount ain't gonna cut it on the grades I have... been there done that on a old Massey. Guess I would have to find out about mid pto's and such. Cousin Tom has an older JD ...ahem... that he picks up and drops front end attachmen's fairly easy. Pretty sure his blower runs off pto under the frame... no mid. Customer of mine had a new JD where every thing on the front was quick attach HY but I would rather have a sister in a house of ill repute than JD.

Did some more wet sanding and tearing down today. Also finished up the dash plate. I painted it the same antique white I am using on other parts. Topped it off with a decal kit from the vinylguy!

This year our previously "material girl" granddaughter (14 years old) has finally proven that she gets it. When she was asked what she wanted for Christmas she wanted to "Adopt" a needy family and make their holiday memorable. She is working through her church and has used every penny she has been given by grandparents and other relatives for gifts and food for this family. We are so proud of her maturity and selfless attitude.

I had it made. Tim Hamilton from Auburn, MA made it. He did a great job. I gave him a D200 tank to make it after.

Yup, I second that! My Mom bought Emory a 1960 suburban when he was 5. After I got it finished, we quickly found out one wasn’t enough. Now he and I have 19 together, 17 are running nice machines, some for play and some from work. I’m finishing #19 for his Christmas this year. I bought it for the rear wheels and deck with intentions of junking the rest. He fell in love with it and the rest is history. Excellent hobby and folks to involve your son with!

I live on 19 acres and love to garden and to expand it from the 1/4 acre I did have I finally talked my wife into letting me buy a garden tractor last February. The first one was the c105 thy came with deck, tiller, cultivator, dozer blade and the brinly disc. Bought them all for 1100 about 4 hours from me. I knew nothing about wheelhorses at the time. It didn’t have a sleeve hitch so I posted a wanted ad for one on craigslist and low and behold someone about 3 hours said he had a few. When I went to buy it he had over a dozen wheelhorses of all models and I fell in love and came back within a month and bought the old 1054. I used the excuse to my wife that my 11 year old could help restore it and learn how to use tools in the process. 😉 I would love to buy more in the up and coming years. Living in North central Kansas makes finding wheelhorses tough unless you want to travel. My garden has now expanded over an acre and will continue to grow it bigger.

Up until a couple of years ago Johnson Controls Inc. made just about every brand of battery that was available. That included OEM and store brands. I would say by the best battery you can afford, keep your tractors inside when you can, and use a trickle charger and they will last for years.

Our prayers were answered. Mark had his post chemo CT scan on Monday and we just reviewed the results with his medical team this afternoon. He is clear and no further treatment is scheduled, although he will have a CT scan every three months. Thank you all for your support and please continue to direct your prayers to those who are still fighting this battle. Merry Christmas
