I think I finally have all of my leaks fixed and my PTO adjusted so I got a load of rock and did some spreading over some muddy patches in the driveway. I’m really surprised how well this thing pushes and lifts when scooping rock from the pile. What I thought would be nothing more than a toy is actually a pretty good little worker.

So I have had several of the more rounded hood speedex tractors. They are fun, but I have always wanted one of the more squared hood speedex tractors. Well I found one. It came with a 13hp Honda engine on it. But I did get a bunch of extra parts and two 11hp Briggs engines from other speedex tractors. So I can make it original. The best part is the snow blade. I have looked for one of these for along time, they are the coolest thing to me. Because with another bracket you remove the blade and flip it upside down and then attach it to the back for a grader blade. This blade is only 40in and not the 44. But I'm OK with that, being the widest part of the wheel base is only 31 1/4 wide at the rear. So here it is and I will be working g in this for a winter project. The other tractor in pic is what's left of a 1968 speedex S-17. But there is some good parts there. Also the last pic is a photo of a advertisement for the blade, so you can see what I'm talking about with flipping it.

I'm going to post an update. John and I have gone to a couple of Iowa vs Northwestern games, when they play in Evanston every other year. Well, today...the Hawkeyes and the Wildcats were playing in Iowa. I just had to call him and see if he was watching the game and how he is doing. They are getting him up to walk around...with a walker...and he can do that by the sound of it. He is making progress, but it is very slow. That is good news, but I wish I had better.

Get yourself a 12 Volt test light. Unhook you negative cable and attach the test light between the negative post and the cable. If there is a draw the test light will glow. Unplug things one at a time like your regulator, lights, cig lighter if there ect. When you unplug the source of your draw the light will go out.

That's my Elmer Fudd hat keeps my ears good and warm The bench is 92" long by 31"wide and 41" tall. The shelf below it is 20" off the floor. Just stood back and realized I screwed up though...had planned on one solid piece of OSB for the shelf...but I put the top on and now can't get one piece in there...oh well I can piece it together. It's like I told my ex wife's grandpa while he was helping me this morning...we're building a workbench not a piano

I just love when a plan comes together...still have to put the top on and cover the shelf. Bought a generator last night too for more power than just enough to run my lights, got one big enough to run my whole RV in the event of a power outage too, so it was a win win

Jim, Often the reason to own something is: because I don't already have one. I think that's the case here. I have several tools for that very reason, and will most likely add more in the future! DB

Sears started out as a mail order company. I believe that if they would have paid attention to the market, dropped the stores that were not doing good & went to an internet order company ( essentially going back to their roots) they probably would still be in business. JMO. I do miss Sears stores and luckily Black & Decker / Stanley picked up the Craftsman tool line so at least your life time warranty can still be honored.

Thanks, I keep telling myself I got it for a song so enjoy the ride. Truth be known I kinda like fixing things. I'm sure others here have gone through alot more to get a horse back on the road. I don't have any body or paint to do just mechanical. Once done she will be good for another 60 years.

Not ags like you're talking about, but I went with Kenda Terra Trac's for my Bronco 14. These are 23x10.5-12 on 7" wide wheels. Also, i like having the fronts match, so the fronts will be the same. I went with these cause they are more aggressive than turfs, but not as much as ags

I miss the Sears quality of old. Seems like once the yuppie bean counter group got in control they threw away quality for profit. Sad to see an American Company go belly up. But when you can buy comparable quality hand tools at Harbor Frieght for half the price, game over. Brand name alone won’t keep a things afloat nowadays. People will pay for quality but if it’s not there, people will seek a better deal. Management of many corporate structures have lost touch with the end user of products. Such is the case with Sears and their power and tooling products. That’s my opinion on their demise.

As a child I remember the "Sears Wish Book" arriving and how we would dog ear so many pages to give our parents some idea of what we wanted for Christmas. Lots of my tools are Craftsman and every appliance in my parents house was Kenmore. The handwriting has been on the wall for nearly two decades that they wouldn't make it. They could have adapted and continued to be a dominant force in retail, but poor management killed them just like Woolworts, W.T.Grants, Sibley's, Zayer to name a few. The sad part of this and many other bankruptcies is that the pension funds have been raped by the managers and we tax payers will be left holding the bag.

Sears started out as a "mail order" company. As technology progressed we all became "mail order" buyers, but it became Email/Internet buyers, thus Sears lost business. Also, as time passed, Sears quality went down,

I have a new catalog from the last year they put them out. The house across the road from my mothers was a kit sold by Sears & Roebuck. I remember a chicken house (probably 10'x20') in town that my dad said came from Sears. And I remember my parents saying the most popular use for the catalog was in the outhouse.....

I am still in shock that the reality of a bankrupt Sears is actually happening. I, too, remember the catalogs. My favorite memory of Sears is Dad's 1974 SS16 garden tractor!
