First off let me thank one of my fellow family members for their kind gesture . It doesn’t go unnoticed and I will pay it forward. !!! So some of you know my story and the predicament I’m in . Seems the last two months or so things just aren’t going to plan . It’s just life and sometimes you forget that no matter how bad or hard things get there’s always someone who’s worse off . So I recently visited my old rehab facility to talk to old friends and meet some of the new clients. One of the new clients wanted to know my situation and how I handle things . When I was done she asked me if I was angry . I told her that of course I was but I also experienced every emotion possible at some point . Now use that anger and put it to use to push as hard as she could in her rehabilitation . She started balling right there and looked at my wife and said you got her to help you. At this point I’m crying too and I asked her if she tell me what had happened . She told me she fell down her basement stairs and when she hit the floor she couldn’t move. Then proceeded to tell me she laid there for four days before a neighbor found her . She told us that she’s never been married and doesn’t have any kids to help. We told her that for whatever reason you’re still here and you found this place. This is your new family and once you’re here you’ll always be no matter what . We told her that we’d be checking in on progress and she isn’t alone in her journey . I guess this whole situation made me think of what I have and how lucky I am . Things can always be far worse.

We brought my next project home last night. I think I am going to need a BIGGER shed real soon

I bought a 10' x 17' portable garage from Harbor Freight about 3 years ago. They were on sale for $150.00. I figured that if it lasted the winter, I'd be lucky since I'd planned to build another shed in the spring...but I was delayed because of spinal fusion surgery, and almost 3 years later, the "tent" is still standing, and the shed is nothing more than a stack of 11 roof trusses and a dream. So, to accommodate my most recent purchases, I have started using my neighbor's garage. I say all that to say this...check with your next door neighbor and ask him if he has any room in his garage, or would he rather see an eyesore tent in your backyard. Nice Raider

After cleaning out two trans, one with kerosene, and one with diesel, and filling them back with oil, they both had some leaking around some of the seals. I posted the question here why would they leak now, when they didn't before. A couple of members said that it happens sometimes you use kerosene or diesel, because they are thinner than the oil and not all of it was completely drained. They said after using the tractor a little it usually stops, they were right. Just put a rag under it for awhile, it may stop on its own.

Hey that's cool. If those guides were removable, you could tip down flat and mow! Call it a "Snow or Mow"!

When Harbor Freight had their HVLP guns on sale a couple of years ago for $9.00, I bought several. They work great for what I do, and if they get too dirty or clogged, I throw it out and use another one. You can't buy a gallon of lacquer thinner for cleaning for less than $15.00, so it's a no-brainer.

Probably a good thing I didn't want to do big tractors. I'd really be in trouble

I edited your title to a more specific title to indicate what the thread topic is about. For future reference, and for best results, it's better to make your thread title the topic you want to discuss, and not to use your username as a title. You will find you will get better and more responses to your questions.

My neighbor has a 1 car garage that is packed to the max. They have concession trailers and do carnivals and fairs in the summer. His wife has been after him since we have lived here (11 years) to build or buy a shed. And since we bought the 12x20 a couple of years ago its gotten worse. HOWEVER I talked to him last weekend and he has been looking Maybe I could talk him in to a REALLY BIG one

Set screw is located on the BACKSIDE of the pulley right on top of the keyway I have circled. A long handle hex wrench works best. Personally and mostly cause I am anal I would pull the input and replace because the seals are cheap and seals are designed to eventually wear out. I had a piece of baler twine wrapped around one of mine once causing a leak so you can check for that kind of mischief. Also while you have the tire off you can check endplay in the outboard needle bearing. Often the cause of a leaky axle seal. Neither procedure required the cases to be split unless other issues are found

As an update. . . pulled the plow off the 310, pulled off the rigid link connected to the lift rockshaft, re-positioned the mower lift chain on the rockshaft, swapped on the mule, attached the 48" deck, tightened up the deck drive belt, and !viola'!, she mows. The PTO was last used about 4 years ago when I last used the tiller, but has not seen a mower deck in 20 years. Mowing level on short grass is okay in 2nd gear. Mowing a slight uphill or thicker grass is 1st gear. Now to dig back into the 416. Kinda discouraging. . .

Insert the valve till the first barb is just in the flange of the grommet, then twist and push the grommet into the tank. After the grommet is fully inserted, push the valve in to expand the grommet.

Nowadays with the aftermarket pistons, ALWAYS have the machine shop tell you what size piston to buy. NEVER let a shop bore your cylinder without the piston. While the quality of the pistons is still good, sizing has lost a bit in the quality control department. Recently had one come in that was .0025 undersized from where it should be. Fortunately, I have a top notch engine machinist who knows what he is doing and always relays to me anything out if spec. and compensates appropriately. Do some homework and find a GOOD machine shop. It pays in the end.

Call me old fashioned, but I like DeVilbiss pressure feed guns for prime and paint....((and I don't think you can beat PPG paint..hands down the best.)).paid 200 for it 20 years ago and still works perfect...

Well, it's mowing season once again... definitely my favorite time of the year as I get more seat time. I got my two worker horses out last week for maintenance and first round of mowing. Mowed again today for their second round of mowing duty this year. The grass always seems to be greener on my side of the fence. When I get my horses out, all of my neighbors' deeres and cubs run back into their sheds and hide. Just can't say enough about these old Wheel Horse garden tractors... still run great after all these years. My primary worker 1995 314-8... I stole this one about six years ago, local craigslist find... only paid $500 for this tractor with mowing deck and single stage snow blower. This is my really nice 1967 model 857 that I bought from Bob Maynard three years ago.

Hello everyone. I had to sell my C85 a while ago and had not found another Wheelhorse to ad to the fleet till yesterday. I found a fellow giving away a Murray tractor, got it for our flip hobby. While there the guy asked if I'd be interested in a Wheelhorse. Told him lets see it. He moves a tractor to show a D-180! I never saw one in person and it is impressive! He has a ton of attachments for it as well, snowplow, roto tiller a rock rake and guess a rear plow, wheel weights and chains and spare tires! He says make me a offer and I have no idea and don't want to tick him off. I ask him what he would take and he says $500! I told him I can get $450 cash today and he said sure! Going this morning to get it. It doesn't run right now but hoping a fresh battery and fuel will get it to move. Going to be fun loading it as it sure looks heavy. I can't do much anymore with three herniated discs so hoping the fellows skid steer will do it!

OK I give up. Is this like a "sky hook", "chow line" or "relative bearing grease"?? I have a 121 in one shed with a Cub Cadet, a Raider 12 in our small shed, the Suburban is in one side of my shop getting its gas tank sealed and the first Charger is still on the lift till I figure out where to put it. OY!

This comment by Ed explains exactly the problem you are having.Knowing why a problem exists is always the answer to the solution if I make any sense. Inserting the rubber plug with the valve fully inserted makes the rubber plug too wide for opening by not allowing it to compress and also creating too much friction. Rubber on plastic also has more friction than metal on rubber. Once rubber plug is fully inserted then the valve will go right is not only because of the least friction but also due to its design.

I just bought this one on eBay. 11 bucks or so. They also sold the rubber grommets in avteo pack. I used oil and pushed mine in kinda a push and a twist.

I've used the bottle jack with success a few times, I started with a 2 ton bottle jack like yours and the relief valve kicks in. I then went to a 6 ton and broke a threaded rod!!! However last week it wasn't going to work, so I went back to basics. A big disc was used to make sure all was spread equally across the bolts holes, then a traditional puller. Heat the hub in order to help, then tighten up and strike the end of the puller with a hammer. Shock is the only way on some of them to break the bond, this tranny had been in a fire and left outside for 3 years so was never going to come apart easily...

I have used many different spray guns, Binks, DeVilbiss, Sharpe. These are all higher end spray guns and all do a great job. I purchased a HF gun to use as a primer gun and liked it so well that I now use it for painting. Here's a link.https://www.harborfreight.com/20-fl-oz-hvlp-gravity-feed-air-spray-gun-62300.html When you compare the HF price to a professional gun, you could almost just throw the HF guns away after each job. The main thing with any gun is to keep it clean!!! The best gun in the world will not spray well if it is dirty or plugged. I've also had some trouble with the cup leaking on my HF gun. I found that I had not cleaned the threads on the cup & cap well enough the last time that I used it. Removed every stich of paint from the cup & cap and no longer had a leaking issue. I've used my HF gun for about 5yrs now, still works great.

Anything "67 is one of my favorites! Will see what we can do about getting you a nice deck for your other tractor! Btw Dave I did find a nice side deflector for you too. You are really gonna like mowing with a 520! Get ready to put a wheel spinner on with that gear reduction!

That gear looks all Wisconsiny. You boys are hard on equipment. Broke just sitting at a show!

Thanks guys! I did download owners manual and saw tow valve. We had heck of a time loading as guys skid steer wouldnt start. Had to struggle to load tractor as it wouldnt fire or crank with key there. Turned out we flooded it there and safety switches stuck. Once home we cleaned plugs and it fired and ran great! Huge mouse nest in tins so kept it short. Turned bypass back after it sat and restarted it. The hydraulics work and it moves. The tiller was packed with hay and took a hour to clear. Had to remove it to load the tractor. Plans are to clean it tommorrow and replace fuel line and tank shut off.

First mowing at the lake and as usual the little commando performed magnificently. Amazing how this 50 year old rear discharge deck still cuts like new. Love love love my Wheel Horse.

I got it fixed. It's locked on the pulley. The new spring puts a lot more tension on the belt too. A lot less play and vibration. Also put a new composite or plastic fuel pump on. The old one pumped, but leaked oil from the case and leaked gas around the diaphragm. Put a new air filter on too. It really cuts the grass nice. Deck needs a rebuild. Winter project I guess.
  44. 1 point
Actually BARELY!! Only lifted it a little due to fear of falling off! We got all new fuel line from tank to pump and then to carb, with filter and a shut-off close to carb for my back instead of using the tank mounted one I replaced. Here is a video of its first drive with fuel setup done. All the lights work after some wiring repair and checking the bulb.
  45. 1 point
Not sure but two people can easily lift it.
  46. 1 point
Up date. Mower is up and running again I guess the screws were backed out enough on the pump so it wouldn't pump fuel. Strange. No oil leaking from the gasket.
  47. 1 point
Well got on it today. Took side panel and console cover off to replace fuel line and clean negative cable. Washed all the grease off and decals broke/blew off hood. Will be ordering new ones. Fixed the positive cable and fired it up. The starter lead is acting up, tried to remove but to the feeling of it possibly breaking stud. Might take it to auto electric shop that rebuilt my Sears Suburban generator. This thing is weird to drive!! So much bigger than my Suburban. The shifter is sloppy, I adjusted friction but but seems like a bushing is bad. Also no brake action really? Where is the adjustment for parking brake? Any help from you guys would be appreciated. I didn’t find info in owners manual I downloaded.

Here's a couple pics of my Mig welding at work today, single pass vertically, that 480v sure is sweet to use, another thing to watch is your "heat signature" as it will tell you whether you are getting good "penetration" vs just "beading" on, top of what you're welding, Jeff.
