My daughter spotted this Elmo on a Wheel Horse on display at Kraynak's store in Sharon Pa. today. It's a popular store know widely for their In store Christmas displays. I was just wondering if this tractor belongs to one of our members here.And of course what exact model it is. My daughter was so excited to show this to me and she set it as my phone background pic.

My snow plow lift rod broke while clearing the driveways here in Michigan. Of course it always happens when you're at the farthest distance from the barn. I have a C160 made in the mid 70's. It's a plowing machine. Once I managed to limp it back to the barn... I had to get it repaired. I made a trip to the True Value hardware store to buy some 3/8" steel rod; figuring I'd make one on my own... a sales assistant suggested a cement anchor bolt that is 3/8" in diameter, threaded on the correct end and bent on a 90 degree angle on the other end... Well, I compared it to the original and it matched perfectly !!! So instead of buying one off Ebay for $30.00 +/-..... it worked great and cost me less than $3.00 and that is buying two so I'd have a spare! All I had to do was drill the bent end for a cotter pin or whatever you like to use.... It worked great. Just my 2 cents to help you all and save you some serious $$$ .

So as some of you know all too well, I have recently upped the stable quite a bit. Most of it was taken in to pass on to new owners here in Denmark, which was also the case with this little horse. It all started a few months back, when I was sorting out all the jump thru hoops of getting horses corralled in the US, and herded into a container bound for Europe. One day my phone rang. It was a young lad, about 10-12 yo, and he said to me: Mister, I have heard that you are getting a s...load of horses send home from the US. Would it be possible for me to get a horse in there among yours?. Damn! that was a boy with some spunk. (don't know if I'm allowed to say that, but I did anyway ) Then he finished it of and said: You should know that I do not have all the money, and that you may have to hold on to it for a short while until I get my dirt bike sold!.............. Well what do you say to a young boy that calls you up like that? Of cause I said yes, and he told me what he was looking for. Meanwhile, the resident forum dinosaur was helping me getting a foot to the ground on this whole deal, and as if it was meant to be, this very helpful friend of mine said: Eeeerrh you wouldn't want my old Raider 10, would you? That Raider was spot on for this kid, and he was ecstatic about it. Time went, and this whole thing became a reality. That Raider 10 was of cause the first tractor I picked out and began prepping. I had promised him he could have it at cost, but I couldn't bear handing him a tractor that would not start, so I ended up giving him a little Christmas present. He is not aware of it, but the look on his face when he saw it, and fired it right up was perfect, and all I hoped for. I started by cleaning the fuel system and carb. It had not run for years, so it took a little elbow grease. Gave it new fuel filter, checked hoses, redid some wiring, swapped out the front plate on the starter (the old one was worn out totally in the bushing), gave it a new bulb in the headlamps, checked fluids, gassed it up, gave it a new battery, adjusted the points, had the wife sew a few tears in the seat cushion, cleaned it up nicely, and heck, I even put air in the tires. After letting it run without spark plug a bit to get some fresh gas thru the pump, I connected the fuel line to the carb, and let it fill up the bowl. In with the plug, and it fired right up. Minor adjustment to the carb, and it ran nice. I took it for a little spin to make sure everything was OK, and parked it when I was satisfied. That same evening, the kid calls me up: I'm selling my dirt bike tomorrow!. Can I come pick it up? Talk about things happening in just the right order....... Next morning I took it out to shoot a few pictures for the PO, and that was when this strange thing came crawling in the back of my mind. This little tractor was not even close to anything that suited my needs nor desires, and even though the kids laughed at me, and the wife figured i looked like a giant buffoon on a toy tractor, I couldn't help taking it for another spin, contemplating what it would be like to keep it, and if I had room for it, and if I really did have to let it go. ...........Strangest thing. Must be a bug. But as you may have guessed, yes of cause the kid got his horse, and he was proud as could be, and I do not blame him one little bit.

The axle doesn't engage the 1533 the end cap of the differential rides in it.

Had a GT14 that I brought back from Horse Death. That was tagged Lazarus. My resto Mod was names Elijah. My GT22-8 will likely carry the moniker Samson. But I am waiting to make sure it’s worthy of the name once it’s finished.

@Copper116 I have used 3/8" "L" bolts for this many time! Glad you found this to work for you without too much expense and aggravation!

Those are a standard muffler that can be bought almost any place. There not the quietest but there better then nothing. Be very careful getting old one off you could break the side of engine . Sometimes cutting the old one off flush and cutting inside of whats left in engine is better. There are other posts about trying to get old mufflers off. If you cannot get the old one with WD40 after soaking it cutting it out is sometimes the only option.

No pets were harmed in the making of this video. As many of you know, my honey and I spend a lot of time outdoors. Our dog is not super fond of the cold being very short haired and single coated. Today we got her into new footwear... My stomach hurts from laughing.

Hello everyone from "Old Blighty" (England). This is a bit of a cry for "Help!". I currently restoring, from the ground up a 1972/73?, "Raider 14, 8 Speed". The main problem being, every time I need any spares, I can only find a reasonable supply of parts in the USA, therefore its costing me an absolute fortune in shipping charges. I've so far not been able to locate a reliable supplier of parts here in the UK. I'm now getting close to the point of giving up! Can anyone please help?

We all have had the dreaded WHA for quite some time. Now it looks like we have a second addiction. ...the BBC ( bulb breaking curse). It must be contagious, as I see another group of members just caught the BBC.

AS Fast as it showed up in Pa, its was sold in a Day ! Not by my hands or money ! I looked as far as Ohio, Hardly any Speedex around ! To me its a High Collector item, i'm thinking more then any make ! Oh well, My Son has a nice Herd, & Proud of them

Also, Wheel Horse only has 1" or 1 1/8" axles...none are 1 1/2"

Thanks Tom for letting me know what happened with that Raider. I'll bet my Dad is smiling also. Just so you know, it only set for 2 years because I was not mowing my Mom's yard anymore...glad you figured out the starter. I'm not sure if my Dad did that muffler thingy, but it does work. That is all galvanized, threaded pipe. Here is a good picture of the muffler system.

Last spring Ace had rv antifreeze for 99cent a gal and I got 12 gals for my tires on the C 160. There was a limit of 6 but the woman let me but 12. Keep this to your selfs ok.

ACE has their -25 windshield washer on sale for 99 cents. That's sense, or scents for a Squonk. You do need an ACE Rewards Card. Fill them tires.

Ok, head is torqued back down and water stays where water's supposed to be! Yay! So, I started pulling the narrow front apart. I've read plenty of posts that say "yes, it can be done" well here's some pointers that I have figured out so far: For a jack stand I used a big round chunk of fire wood about 20" high on end, then a couple 20" long pieces of 6x6 under the frame rails, once I used the cherry picker to lift the front end off the ground. I also unhooked the battery, so when the tractor was in gear the starter didn't actually bump the engine over and knock it off the jack stand. The 8 bolts holding the steering head in are the easy part. The distributor drive housing needs to be pulled off the engine. I think I haven't moved it, but I should have marked the distributor/rotor before I pulled it off. There's an oil line that needs to be loosened to get the distributor housing off. With that out of the way, you can drive the dowel out of the steering u-joint. This is a fun part: separating the steering shaft from the u-joint! I got the torches out and heated the u-joint casting up red hot, then got behind the wheel and turned to full lock and pulled backwards as I kept spinning the shaft (loose in the hot u-joint casting) until it came apart and I about fell off the back of the tractor (ok, I did fall off but caught myself most of the way down). Now, the steering shaft is apart and the steering head is loose... or without bolts. But it's still very much in the frame rails. I loosened the bolts about 2 turns each that hold the transmission between the rails, and I loosened one frame rail from the rear axle housing. The front engine crossmember, I pulled one bolt out and left the other in. The transmission is holding the engine up, but this will keep one frame rail relatively in line and I figured only one needed to come out. There are two bolts from underneath holding the radiator tight to the frame rail, those went the same way. One loose and one out. Next step: Get a porta-power, or a bottle jack. Push the frame rails apart about 1/2-3/4" and try to get the steering head loose. Then move the porta-power between the engine crossmember and the steering head and start working it out. When you're close, wrap a chain around the steering assembly and tie it up to the cherry picker. Keep working it out, till you've got a 2 wheeled tractor! At this point, I've got to get over to grampa's place to load up the wide front end and get it into the garage. This should all be doable before Christmas, right?

I'm out in south Paulding so SE of you. Wallfish has it right - that pic is a perfect example of a techy carb - exactly like the one on my old 6 HP minibike in the teen years long ago. I had my dad for 16 years - wish he had seen that I was handy - he couldn't replace a door knob and didn't think I could either but the few tools he had always ended up near me and some project - a wonderful dad. Sorry for your loss and I trust that you value your time with him greatly.

He looks pretty "tickled" to be on that tractor. My daughter took almost the same picture when she visited there almost a month ago. We were too busy to get up there this year but I really wish now that I had. I don't really know how to categorize the place. Kind of a nursery/greenhouse type place that just explodes for Christmas. Speedex's are fun to mess with too! The later models like to one you pictured are beasts and would make a good addition to anyone's collection. I have a speedex as well and they are fun and a little different too!
