Well after 3 years of having this project on the back burner, it's finally back on four wheels in who knows how long! Now it's time to see if I can get that ol' tecumseh to run again.

That is a great pic and I'm sure we all in our ways own enjoy having kids around - I have one daughter but she gave us 4 grandkids . The title of Dad is awesome , but the title of "Papa" is almost better , lol . I can have the worst day ever going on and when come over and show their excitement to see Papa it just makes the day a whole lot better . I run 2 blocks out of my way to go past their house on the way to the brush dump outside of town , if their outside Papa has to always stop and say hi no matter how busy with chores - those little kids are my life and my reward . They love the WH's and their Dad even found an old 1067 to mow with - the boys can't leave it alone most of the time . Papa gives wagon rides behind Big Ugly - the grins are worth the time . Sarge

Thanks Bob. All, I have attached a couple of pictures. I still have a few things to do on it. This wheel horse was the victim of a fallen tree years ago but it's been a fun journey restoring it. Drill........

That is not a standard decal for the 1977 B-100. It is for a hydro and the B-100 did not come as a hydro in 1977. @Vinylguy Terry, you need to pull that one from your B-100 8-Speed package.

Happy Birthday guys , nothing like being a December baby , too close to Christmas for a party of presents , ask me how I know. Squonk and Steve on a stick will visit both of you soon with Birthday kisses.

She did what was asked last night. Sorry I didn't do pictures in the snow, it was 10:30 and I was beat from working on the cab all day. We ended up with a bit over 5 inches, moist, heavy snow. But the C-175 enjoyed the playtime. My son Mike at the controls. Glenn

Just a tip - if you want to store paint for any length of time after it's been opened and keep any oxygen from starting to cure it in the can you can fill the can with inert gas if you have either a mig or tig welder . Disconnect the ground , disable the wire feed if needed and cycle the gas through the welder to fill up the can - I use plastic wrap under the lid to make a really tight seal . Filling it with argon or CO2 mix will stop almost any paint mix from hardening and wrecking the left overs - both those inert gasses are heavier than air and will push out the O2 in less than a few seconds . Same with bigger cans - I've stored left over gallons that had reducer mixed in already for years with no problems . It's also the preferred method for storing chemical coatings such as POR-15 and others since they are cured by O2 and humidity - the inert gas will keep them fresh for a long time . Just make absolutely certain that can is isolated from the ground so the welder can't light off a spark and ignite the stuff - that would be bad . You could just use the gas line directly off the bottle and use the regulator to keep the pressure/flow set low and do it that way , a lot safer . Sarge

I had a Mattel VROOM tow truck as a kid. That thing was louder then 10 kids , 6 dogs, and 4 cats locked in a closet. My Aunt gave it to me and I was NOT ALLOWED to play with it in the house.

Yea, while I was developing this love and turning the 314 into a new hobby (who knew)...and I love it, I started looking at craigslist. Someone had a 520-H with (I can't remember the exact number but) a ridiculously low amount of hours, and it looked like you can eat off of every surface. I should have jumped on it. I went with the Deere for Mom because she insists on cutting the grass herself, but because it doesn't have hydro lift, not to mention it's cold out, I do the snow blowing.(but when everything is working right I actually enjoy doing it!) I just enjoy the wheel horse a ton more. The Deere is easy to get on and off without the need to swing your leg up and over, the steering feels like power steering, and the ease of starting it is a lot better for her. However, she isn't THAT old, maybe I should bring her back the 314 and let her ride around for a bit now that I have it tuned up and close to back to new condition. The Deere wasn't even impulse, I spent 2 months researching other brands and prices. I can't believe I thought a little lawn tractor would do what I needed it to do. Oops.

Thanks for sharing. The JD X350 is a lawn tractor and could never hold a stick to a 314. I can't think of anything comparable that's American made other then spending the big bucks for a higher line JD I'm with Craig on another Wheel Horse. They are still out there in pristine original shape but you will pay some bucks for them, just not the new price of the JD's. One thing to consider is your Mom's ability to get on and off the tractor. One of the X series may be better for her.

Didn't I hear you say, there's no comparison.... so, why not another for your Mom?

Never seen one of those in person before only in the old Briggs microfiche at work. Its listed in the model 19 fiche as a shield assembly, spark plug part number 89742. Probably the same for most of the 8hp and up engines from that vintage

If you are going to use a spray can I highly recommend Premium Decor Fiesta Red from True Value. It goes on really flat and glossy. It dries very quickly and very hard. When I inherited Dad’s 161 it needed some touch up and this was a perfect match. The best part is it’s only $3.50/can. Here are are some before and after pics plus some items I added later and painted to match.
