It was a beautiful Good Friday and my wife's niece and her family paid us a visit. These are their two little boys, Gavin(2) on the 59 and Noah(11 months) on the 857. I took Noah for his first tractor ride in this pic. Gavin sat on every tractor I have and was thrilled between tractors and chickens.Kids love tractors just like all you big kids here. I cant wait to let them drive them around someday( supervised of course).

Clean One owner 314-8, 584 hrs 42 inch deck excellent condition, snow plow harley used, extra rear wheels with ag tractor tires like new. Paid $900 for everything. Put a new battery in it and mowed my lawn today. Really like everything about it. Now to do oil change, rear diff, ect... any recommendations or suggestions anyone. I'm happy with the price I paid.

Yep, that HH120 is the first WH I bought. It did all the mowing and snow blowing for about 15 years before I got the 2nd, 3rd......11nth 12th etc. It has never failed to start and runs strong. You should know Richard..... Just a 20' right of way between the fields to the woodlot where I hunt deer. My neighbor uses it to walk her dog, so I keep it mowed. It's about 500 yds to the house. Bout 6 hrs of seat time today Jack. That's the infamous "Mad Max" monster I made from a walk behind tiller. It really works great for working the beds close to the buildings.

Hello brothers and sisters. Recently moved from Bronx NY to Clearfield PA to give my family a better life.. Especially my daughter. I purchased a 520H from someone on craigslist after reading alot on lawn mowers vs garden tractors and such prior to shopping around. I have just over 2 acres with slope and wanted to get the best i could within the right price. I'll see if i can post pics after i figure things out on this forum. Everything works and shes not bad looking. Clock says 223 on it.. Trans oil looks clean but engine oil is black. I plan to freshen everything up regardless. Some wires look like they were clipped and some bypassed.. Will have to find the right schematic and see what was done.. But again.. Seems like all works. Lol. Welp.. That's all for now. Stay blessed!

Just thought I'd update this thread. I finally decided to contact buckrancher. He said "send it to me". So I did. I don't know how he does the things he does, but here is the result: Thanks again for all the suggestions, and many thanks to Brian.

Hi all, Just joined and have been really enjoying this site. I bought, what I think is, a 1975 C160 Wheel Horse from my neighbor in 1983. He was shop manager at a business that primarily sold large trucks, the type that pull 18 wheelers, and they also were a wheel horse dealer. When I bought it he also gave me a bunch of manuals from 74 to 77, including automatic tranny manuals and parts lists for the tractor and the tranny. I want to sell it and would appreciate it if someone could verify the year. The attached photos show the stamped labels. One thing that always puzzled me was the decal on the hood showing C161 and decal on the body showing C160. He gave me a bunch of spare parts, including a weathered hood. Maybe he just wanted a shiny new hood and they only had a C161. What is the difference between a c160 and c161? Thanks, henry

I put three 12s to work today. First mowing I like to cut it short and suck up all the leftover debris from the dethatching. The C-120 and the Raider 12 shared the mowing and sweeping duties. The 312 tilled in the fertilizer in the garden.

So I finished up the spindle replacements. I found some older stock Stens units. Got two on Amazon and one on EBay $20 ea. delivered. What a difference. It sounded like a jet nearby before, now can't hear it over the motor. While I had the deck off I decided to coat the underside with some POR-15 I had kicking around. Interested to see how it holds up. Looks like the deck had some custom surgery done to the discharge side. I don't believe they normally neck down like mine is where it discharges. I found a set of nos blades on EBay too had to pay $ 62 clams for them as others were bidding. Also put on the new B80 8 speed decals from Redo your Horse but not shown in this picture.

Around about this time l started thinking motion control, the automatic/hydro transmission made this loader do able but a method of control needed to be worked out. I reasoned that the normal hydro control, where you could set a speed and it would be maintained wouldn't really be the ideal for a loading machine. Better in my opinion would be a control that was variable and when released would return to neutral. Loaders are all about smooth 'shuttling and accurate control. Along side this, foot control would be the way to go, left hand steering, right hand operating the loader controls, no need to juggle hands if you've got feet helping out. So on to the footrests, why reinvent the wheel with new ones when the old could be adapted. By dropping them to this level, 170mm from their original 370mm and raising the seat 80mm, the driving position is comfortable. I'm six foot and half an inch (don't forget the half inch) so as long as I don't start growing again it'll be fine. Of course the footrests needed some trimming and reshaping One is narrower than the other to allow for the belt guard. So cut down the wide one to match, and try to copy the angle at the rear. With the rests done, time to implement my incredibly clever motion control mechanism.......tomorrow.

Here is one of my favorite Easter memories. My cousin was the Sunday School teacher for age six and under. Her lesson for the day centered around Christ's resurrection and all of the children were told to tell everyone that "He has risen". As the Easter service was ending and the minister was about to deliver the Benediction an usher pushed a button to alert the teachers to bring the children to the sanctuary. The minister had a prolonged dramatic pause prior to the benediction and a boisterous five year old blurted out "HE HAS RISEN!" This was immediately followed by a dozen young voices making the same proclamation. The minister had the biggest smile in the world and simply said Amen.

Finally got the 520-8 home today. Got some work to do to it. The norm - someone has messed with the wiring. Ran a wire off the switch straight to the starter solenoid. None of the gauges work with the exception of the voltage. Deck will need some patching. But the spindles are nice and quiet. Now the hard part of making room in the garage.

1975 C-160 The C-160 engine is bolted directly to the frame. The C-161 has rubber anti vibration pads and a " rocker plate".

Morning roadapples, I hear what your saying and that would make mounting easier, however we're talking eight fasteners which (hopefully) will only have to be tightened once. Plus I plan to use lock nuts & washers so nothing shakes loose. If it was on/off all the time, I'd do exactly as you say. Thoughts on motion control tonight!

Just like my other tractors, the AC 912H found it's way into the work force. Used it to pull the dump cart while edging along the sidewalk.

My 16 year old daughter wants to plant a garden this year, so I am going ahead and tackling the "hard" part. This is virgin ground and has never been turned a although there were 3 garden boxes that sat there at one time and had premium top soil in them. When I removed the boxes,I tilled the soil back into the existing ground. The bottom plow isnt a Wheel Horse plow but looks like it may have come off a walk-behind tractor. I should have shortened the tongue a lot more than I did and probably will in the near future. I had to make some adjustments in order to get the depth right but I got it in the ballpark. The little RJs front end was a little light but I am impressed with the 4hp Clinton. I am going to disc it Monday and try to till it afterwards if weather permits. I picked up a very nice set of Brinly discs at the salvage yard my Dad and I went to Friday for 60 bucks. I dont think they have been used more than a few times.

Since I am fortunate to have a job that gives me Good Friday off with pay, My Dad and I are going down to the tractor salvage yard to look for a few things. It doesnt get any better than this.

Just how far could you factory custom order a Wheel Horse back in the day? I have a B80 whose ID plate states it is a 1975 model year 4 speed, but it has an 8 speed, and it uses an 85" drive belt, not the 82" 7473 that the manual calls for. Any thoughts?

I have always liked the look of the 1045, round fenders and square hood is cool looking..

Good thing I didn't look at the Craigslist up there before you got to the 551 or I would of had both! I don't look up there as much as I should. Had to have this as I love the square hoods but not the biggest fan of the fender pan compared to the round fenders, so I've always wanted the 1045 Another thing is I have bought a few tractors since being in Tennessee but haven't found a wheel horse to buy and been craving a new horse!

I bought the fellas 551. Was tempted to load up the 1045 too. Owner was a real nice fella.

Here is a side view shot with my neighbor Zach, I love the big and littles with the roll bar. Everything is 100% stock and original, I even cut the axles in half and welded them back so I could save the caps on the axle. Randy

My first Wheel Horse (and bought new in '98) is a 1997 520H Anniversary ,755hrs now, seems that they made the Anniversary models '96-'97, check your serial number, 19 years and has exceeded my expectations mowing ,grading, gardening, and snow blowing, have another '95 520H with 295hrs on the clock, love my Onan powered , and good luck with yours, as far as tires ck for TracGard N-766 (bottom pic front tires) but in 23x10.50-12 usually a pair on there for less than $150 & free shipping to your door I really like the fronts as I have changed mine out and Ags on the rear, Jeff.

Really pleased so far. Single owner and I verified that with the dealer it was purchased from. 930 hours and the meter is working. I couldn't help but mow the lawn with it tonight. Runs really well. Not a single tear in the seat. Thanks for all the comments.

Hooked up my wheel horse cultivator on the 3/12 this afternoon. I had to take a carbide bit on the dremel to clean up the slot hitch. It was a bit peened over on some edges cleaned up nice and now slides in good. I put the bigger tires on yesterday with the wheel weights. I have to prep an area for seed at my sister in laws house and I've been looking for a reason to use it also made a new lift cable. I forgot I had ferrule crimps. Found them in a scrap metal haul years ago (along with a bunch of other nice USA made tools I kept). Hardly use them but work fantastic

@Lee1977 funny you say that, because when I stripped it back down, I thought I should cap those ends off. I have capped everything else and it looked unfinished. I don't really think putting gussets in place as well is necessary, however, as l'm building an 'industrial loader' and it won't take long you will get your upgrade. In reality I think the rear will be in the air or the tyres will fail long before that 5mm plate bends. After all the transmission is still bolted to the tractor frame in the normal way. Ok so it's 'seat box' time... first, two pieces of angle for the battery tray, done. I got a little carried away and forgot the pic's but none of this was rocket science, there are a few things to point out however. The seat hinging plate didn't come with the tractor when I bought it, I won it on upay. It was perfect for this application as I had to be able to fuel the loader/access/charge/change the battery. Not a lot of room but the battery will pass up through. The hight of the seat was important, l mounted it approximately 80mm higher than either of my other tractors, at the same time l planned on the foot rests to be much lower than a standard tractor. This was to provide legroom without adding length. The seatbox also had to be wide enough to allow the main drive belt to pass through inside it on the left side. It also had to be demountable for painting, l had made the subframe a bolt up item so the seat box was going to be the same. This is how I achieved it. I cut four pieces of angle and four small plates, drilled through them, bolted them up, placed them under the legs then welded the angles to the subframe on the inside. With that done, just weld the legs to the plates. Undo four bolts and the seatbox can be removed. Last picture tonight, showing the 19mm hinge bar and the cut away to allow the seat to fold up to the steering wheel without fouling. So there you go Dennis, hope your happy.

A good score today. I got a very lightly used set of Brinly discs, a set of steel wheel weights, a Wheel Horse tongue hitch and a Kohler carb. I need everything I bought for projects going on.

Drilling a hole that will line up with the shaft hole in a home shop isn't going to happen! If you were to use a Dremel to cut a groove in the bottom side of the wheel that will slip down over the roll pin and drill and tap the shaft to bolt the wheel down you could make that work.

No mystery here as to what I just latched on to. I got to meet another one of our members, Scott, @Firecop119 today. I knew a blower was on my list and he had this one right here in town. It came on a 89 C-111 he picked up and he already had a two stage on an awesome 520 so he had no need for this one. This is the exact model I was looking for and is identical to the blower I had when we lived up here before. Had a nice chat with him. By the way, Scott is looking for some 8" hub caps if anybody has a pair they would part with.
