Looking great, and nice use of the tool box, although I don't think they would stay cold for long. If you drink them really fast, that wont be a problem! Matt :flags-texas:

After a couple days,a couple hundred miles and weeks in the planning I got the Ranger I wanted. Its the look and the function of a great round hood.I am going to pick up an eight speed rear this weekend and pull it apart, clean and paint her. Then fit her up with the plow chassis and wheel weights.I cant believe how comfortable this peach is and how tight it spins around.

There are two coils on a Vanguard sound like one bad coil. It could also be a bare kill wire shorting it out.

The suggestions above will only take you so far if your ground is packed hard, or if there are a lot of roots (which seems to be the case of clearing brush). Get yourself some sort of ripper for the back to loosen up the roots, rocks, and soil, then use the blade. Jeff

Hi Matt, Your right with the positioning. In the pic, it is perched on a piece of Ali Tubing resting on the floor. The height will be dictated by the minimum 90 deg bend radius I can get. Should be a bit lower hopefully. Over 2 weeks of C"*p weather here in UK. They actually lifted the Hose Pipe Ban in my area yesterday !. So for you guys over in U.S. who are tired of the heat and drought, regular torrential rain look's like this- Needless to say, it has put paid to my outdoor progress on prepping and painting the Hood and Fender, but have made some advances- Still have to do a final prep & colour coat, then Laquer. As I've had to divert from painting, I decided to clean up the three Blades for the rear section of the Cultivator Attachment- (I found some new replacement heavier duty Cultivator Shovels while out in France last year, perfect size and fit, so I got 5 now + the 2 originals it came with . .....just have to clean the Green Paint off them in favour of red. These 2 'Ducks Foot Blades' had been 'E-Bucketed' initially (3rd one is currently immersed and simmering)- Not sure where these are from and don't think they are WH, but they will be fine for 'Ridging' prior to seeding/planting. Hopefully the weather will improve at the end of July when I get my hands on a Welding Kit which should speed things up a bit. Stay cool and dry ! Regards.

The trip springs will only allow so much down force as well. Once the blade gets too much bite, it "rolls forward" just as it was designed to. Not disagreeing with any of the previous posts- just making a point.

ok heres the pics of both tractors.the 800 special runs and drives and no odd noises,it comes with a mower deck but needs spindels, blades and pullys.it may need a new electric pto. the 552 has no spark, hood has been trimmed for different engine at one time along with the belt guard.the shifter handle under the shifter boot has rusted to only about half the diameter so what the inside of the tranny is like could be bad.the belt cover is not mounted properly,it has spacers to mount it out from where it should mount. the serial # is 62-12502 is this a 1962 552 and if it is what would be a fair price for the pair?thanks in advance for any and all input.

I'm shouting for thur, but may be first thing fri depending on how things come together at the last min if you know what I mean. Planing on bringing the 400, 875, 66 lawn ranger, and the 520 with a magnum 18. No ambulance this year, and yes Steve the meals on wheels will be there! I cant wait to see all you guys again and look forward to all the good times in the camp ground.

This Lawn ranger seems to be all original ( with the exception of an after market gas cap and one of the rear tires) and someday should make for a nice restore. It hasn't been started in a few years and was put in the back barn or somewhere because one of the mower deck spindles was sheared off after hitting a tree stump while . Up until that happened, this tractor was used occasionally on the same property since it was purchased new in 1967. You can tell the last few years it made a nice home for some rodents . Not planning on restoring this unit for a while or until my 606 is completely done. right now I'm just working to get it running. Heres a couple more pics.....

Looks very clean and original. I am not sure what your plans are for it but if it were mine I would just give it a real good cleaning and get it running good. Nice pick up!

Stevasaurus, I tried that Hamms once, about a half of a can was enough for me and it was cold, so I can not imagine what it would be like warm/hot. The weather finally broke here in the Fort, suppose to be in the mid 80's for a few days. Its was nice yesterday, finally got some shop work done and had a few cans of the skunked beer. Being Sunday you can not buy carry out Beer in Indiana. But you better beleive I am going to have a fresh case today. The future does not look go for rain, but again we can hope for it. :USA:

The bottom gear can be removed without breaking it. The top gear only needs the lighter portion broken off to clear the crankshaft. I place a chisel between the teeth and (normally) just a bump with a hammer will cleanly break the cast gear. I have never had one shatter into tiny pieces, but if you're worried about shrapnel, wrap a rag around the gear.

Well it is a huge mess right now. Will hopefully get a day or two this summer to pull everything out and reorganize the chaos.

Just remember you asked for this. Actually this was a horse ranch before my 86 year old mother got too old to take care of the 15 horses she used to have. By the way along with my heart problem a couple months ago, she had a stroke about a month ago and is still in the hospital. I really need to sell some of this stuff and it's at www.cowboysredhorses.com Anyway here are quite a few pictures and I do have plenty of room yet but I need to thin the herd. If you thought Matt's shop was big this will blow your mind. Thee ones stored inside normally have tarps over them also. There are four under tarps in my main shop( the picture with the roll-around tool tray).

Here is a picture of one of my shelf units I put these on each side of my pole barn I have enough room for 12 horses on and under one shelf and 18 on or under the other I only use the top shelf for big bulky items that I can fit in my Farmall H tractor bucket. The 604 and 633 get used frequently so they are in the shop and the 701 is kept in my other garage so if I lose a building I won't lose my entire collection.
