I obtained a new muffler from @WHX?? recently, planning on using it on this tractor.  In a hand mock up, it looks like it will make a good mini stack.  I got a little deeper into that today.  The original pipe backed right out of the exhaust port threads - suprise, suprise.  On the bench, i discover that the 1" iron exhaust is a bunch smaller than the ID of the new muffler. 

Adaptor time.  It appears that stepping up to a 1 1/4" pipe will get me a heavy press fit into the muffler.  That is what they make disc grinders for, though a bench mounted belt sander or even a lathe would be wonderful.  Trip #2 to the hardware store for this project tomorrow.

The story goes that Trojan bought a large amount of Clinton engine for a project that fell through & they were left with all these engines with nothing to do with them , so they came up with the idea of using the engines for a garden tractor & so the Trojan Toraktor was born ..

They only ever made 500 of these tractors & theere were only 4 series of them ever made

The MK 4 series was the most raest as they stop production of them during the making of the series 4 and so only a handful were ever built .

I’ve had feelers out now for a while, maybe a year, looking for a machine to get a brush hog for, or pull a bigger plow, etc.  the WD45 is powerful, but has no traction.

Cleaning up the place a bit lately, I uncovered this from the vines once again and today just asked my BIL what he’s going to do with it.  Well, it’s mine now, so long as it stays in the family and I don’t sell it.  

It has the aftermarket 3 point system, which I may end up swapping onto the WD45 but first it’ll need a real good transmission soaking.  The shift rails are stuck to all forward gears, I can only access reverse.  The engine oil looks full and fresh at least!

My plan, once I get the pool and camper winterized and put away, is to get it INSIDE where it belongs, drain out whatever is inside the transmission, then get it soaking with any oil yep fluids I can find.  I have a couple pallets of used oil and I won’t even mind just filling it up to set for the winter.  I’ve filled engines to sit for a year and got them to break free, why not an old transmission to start?

This is another project I’m working on when I’m not working on tractors. It’s a late 40’s to early 50’s David Bradley walk behind tractor. They are pretty interesting as they have a similar setup to the attach o matic. It’s set up so you can swap implements fairly quickly and easily. They usually are run by a roughly 3 horse engine usually a Briggs and Stratton or Tecumseh. There were a few different models and options available. I just have to find an engine, run the cables to turn it, and disengage the clutch. Also, find 6-16 tires for the 16 inch rims that aren’t ungodly expensive. It sat at the house I grew up in for most of my childhood. I do have photo’s of my father, my brothers, and I riding on it when we were 5 and under. I’d like to get it going if I could. It shouldn’t be too hard as the drive setup is much like our tractor.

So I know this might not be everyones' cup of tea but here we are. Since we moved houses and went from 700m2 (7500 sq/ft) to 10.000+m2 (~2.5 acre) we were in desperate need of some more serious mowing capacity. 

Since me ol' 512D is not in running order and/or even has a mowing deck I was on the lookout for something else.

Since the budget is tight because we're renovating I set my goals on a sub 1000 bucks mower. Also it had to be a frontmower rather than a tractor for ease of use and the mowing deck had to be in good shape.

After a looong time I found this 'beauty': Stiga Villa classic with 3 year old mowing deck for €400,-/~$450,-. Knowing that a new bare mowing deck alone costs about 300,- I did not hesitate. Not much to look at but does the job.

Easy acces and simple construction.

Simple gearbox and chaindrive, 1 reverse, 5 forward gears.

Good ol' B&S 12,5 HP (Quiet I CANNOT agree with) 

Since buying it I changed the oil, sparkplug aircleaner(s) and added a new seat.

After mowing two times it threw a belt so I replaced that aswell.

Funny story about the front wheels and axle on the mowing deck.. they are almost always worn out, as were these. Although the wheels being plastic they had ground down the 16mm (5/8") shaft to about 10mm (~3/8").

So bought a set of new wheels which cost about $15 each and thought of buying a new axle.

I mean how much could a piece of 5/8" x 3,5ft  round bar possibly cost, right? 

Well, Stiga wanted $110,- for it 

Luckily our local 'tractor supply' sells C45 axle steel or 'silver steel' round stock by the metre which cost a whopping $6,50!

Bought that, cut it to length, drilled and tapped an M8 hole on each end and re-assembled everything. Back to mowing again!

Another tractor added to the heard. Case International 585 with canopy/sunroof.

It's a 60-ish horsepower tractor with very limited electronic gimmicks. Has a nice tight turning radius. It was built in Doncaster from 1985 to 1990 and the hourmeter says it has ran 4700 hours since then, I'll take that with a grain of salt though.

Plan is to use it for all kinds of jobs around the house and barn/stable for my gf's horses.

Ofcourse it is not a new machine so there are things that will need looking after but all the basics are there.

Then it came home and I put gas innit and she fired and ran very nicely.  I am too tall for it . It also came with a 3 lblade head with plastic blades only three inches long. It turns out that it came that way from the factory.

    Very little use as far as indicated wear suggested.  I googled the label info and Stihl wants 219.00 for it new.

It cranks high Rpm and is nice and smooth but a bit difficult to control around hard surfaces, What it is really good at is cutting really high grass and tall non woody weeds. It simply cuts under the tall stuff andit falls out of the way without getting tangled as it would in a normal string trimmer..  Out here on the farm around the barns we do not manicure this stuff so a really good choice for neglected trimming. areas. That little.038 cc engine is by far the easiest starting and smoothest running trimmer engine i have ever had..

    I am thinking i need to put some more money in the pot than what we bought it for....

  I bought a nineteen inch green two cycle lawn boy for the same price at a community garage sale because i just want a trim mower that starts every time. No blade clutch. No tough to get at carburetor to clean. Run it out of fuel and she will always start next year.Built like a tank.

It has the tiller, a front blade, and a deck which probably to far gone to save. Also some wheel weights

I did wash it before the photos. The sticker is not right I did check the model number on the tractor and it is a 7016.

I did check the bevel gearbox and it doesn't have to much slop it's still within acceptable range. 

After checking this tractor out I can really appreciate the simplicity of the Wheelhorse tractors (pun not intended haha)

That said I do love the look of the tractor with this particular hood and the light pods on the side. 

From what I’ve gathered so far is this is a late 60’s or early 70’s Economy tractor that has been turned into a pulling tractor. I still have yet to run it but should fire off with some tlc. I was thinking about pulling it in our club but rules won’t allow it so…it will be a cool drive around or yard use tractor. I’m thinking about removing the rear tires and adding truck all terrain tires and change out the front tires as well. I’m also thinking about adding a hood. Section to the front.

wondering what model tractor this is.. is it a Toro Wheelhorse? If it’s not Wheelhorse, anyone know what it is? Sticker looks like it MIGHT say Toro… attached discription.. makes me wonder what motor they refer to as worth $470 alone.. is the tractor as is appears worth $275? Didn’t attach but there is a video of it pull cord starting.. not driving just starting 

I seen others having a similar setup but found it interesting how it was under the hood and between the engine. 

Heavy Duty

I wanted to start a topic for this 682 cub cadet. It’s been a blast to work on and build for a buddy of mine. I got it in 2023 from someone who their dad passed away and they inherited the 6. They sold it to me for 250$ with a non running tractor, a deck, and snow blower.

We sold the snow blower the same year and set the tractor aside for 3 years almost to the date saying we will get to it sometime. This buddy of mine came to stay with us for a couple days early this year. He said he needed a reliable lawn mower that would last. Dad and I looked at each other and we knew exactly what tractor he needed…you guessed it the 682. I didn’t have much time because I was in school but in between the things I had going on I was able to work on the 6.I did the well know steps to a restoration, I striped it to the frame, I started sanding the sheet metal for later, etc.

I worked on the frame and wheels to get it to be a roller and that is where I am today. I am excited to see where this thing ends up and all the things along the way. Fingers crossed I should be able to start sheet metal soon. 

He was proud of his new replacement hood from Home Cheapo.
