I am searching for a coil for 3.0 Briggs model number 100212 0464 photo attach. The yellow one was after market. Junk. I like to buy the factory made coil. Instead.

    Thanks

     Bill

The engine code 1002xx indicates that this is a 5hp engine. B&S no longer makes a coil for this engine to be used with points. This is great news!! Why? Now you can cut the wire off that goes to the points, leave the points where they are and install a B&S solid state coil. No more points to deal with, ever.  B&S part #397358

Here is one source for your coil http://www.psep.biz/store/briggs_stratton_ignition_coils.htm

    A solid state coil for a 2hp-4hp would be B&S part #591420

I change all of my B&S engines to solid state coils.

I've done this myself quite a few times, I'm old fashioned and love points ignition just for the nostalgia effect but switching these little Briggs engines over to solid state makes it so much easier and reliable. Good stuff here guys.

Your :text-welcomewave: Shine .... being of old skool  myself like to keep things orginal BUT havin the same  Briggs on  a driveway blower that only gets used on occasion this was the answer for points oxidation. No more havin to pull tins and flywheel just to dollar bill points.

I too have not had any problems with the change over to solid state coils but be aware of cheap nock offs.
