Hydro is very strong.
Starts and runs excellent.

Seat has cracks.

Needs new front tires soon (weather checked)
Rear tires don’t match exactly.
Faded paint.
A little play in the steering.

Came with a tractor I bought but I have no use for it. I did connect it just to try it out. The spindle bearings run very loud. It does work though and cuts quite nicely. Left side pulley is welded on for some reason. $100. Will bring to the big show. Sold.

The engine was replaced with a rebuilt 14HP K321 from @richmondred01 in December 2019.

The tractor has  and custom hydraulic lift pump and reservoir added to provide dual hydraulics. The original manual lift was removed and the hydraulic cylinder and lift  rocksaft from a C160 auto was swapped in and the hydraulic remotes from a D series was used to provide the dual hydraulic capabilities. One set of remotes is available to provide hydraulics to the rear or front by use of quick couplers. It has a rear lift with clevis hitch. New 23x10.50x12 ag tires and cast weights. The deck was completely rebuilt in 2019 new rebuilt spindles, pulleys and belts.

Also included is many extra parts for deck and tractor along with a complete extra manual transmission.

As you can see, it has had some knocks and dents but had no rust-through, drilled holes, or cuts except that the front bottom tab has been replaced with a brazed-on piece for the threaded front thumbscrew. All I've done was remove the surface rust and the last of the dead paint (wire bush and sandpaper), clean it, prime it (Rustoleum Rusty Metal), and Regal Red it (Rustoleum Enamel). It fits perfectly at the gas tank and at the front frame.

This hood came to me on a partially-assembled 854 I'm readying to be a nice looking worker but as I was finishing the refurb and went to put the hood on, I discovered it didn't fit over the K181. Another member helped me diagnose my problem -- the PO had sold me a tractor with the wrong hood! Round hood experts will know the 854 hood is a bit longer--I didn't know better at the time to check.

So, this hood is for sale and I'm looking for a usable hood for a worker 854 (which is a bit over 16" where this hood is 15¼"--see image below)

History:

The tractor came to me with a decent hood on it.

I cleaned the surface rust, sanded a bit, and painted it. Bottom tab had been replaced with a new brazed-on bit. All looks good. I went to install it today and it doesn't fit.

Dawns on me then that when the tractor arrived, it didn't have the air cleaner on it.

Yep, as you round hood experts have realized, my hood is a 702-type (part no. 4415). It's an inch too short to fit over that air cleaner.

the 520H i just picked up came with a 60" deck. It has been repaired but I have cut with it and it is smooth, no noises and anything. It is just way too big for what I will use it for. Would love to just trade it towards a really nice rear discharge deck. Will add picks later

Would like to trade but if you are looking for one I will sell it as well .. for others that I have seen I guess $450 OBO ? Not sure if that is a fair price or not. All I would want out of this is enough to get the smaller deck and found on for $400.. 

I am moving to town so am willing to do a partial trade for a wheelhorse more approproiate for a suburban lot- lawn ranger, surburban models, bcs walking tractor, other?

About a week or so later, I found this 414–8 for sale, and bought it.  I now had my plow and could plow the driveway. So what happened with Mike @Sparky and this forum I spoke of? It grew a little bit, and we now call it RedSquare, and for sale is one of if not THE reason RedSquare exists today, so you can own a piece of RedSquare history!

About the tractor: 1987 414-8. Kohler M14, runs well does not burn oil. Everything on the tractor works as it should, but it is a worker. The plow is a 48” with a custom made scraper blade, made from heavier stock than original. For the past several years, this has been a dedicated plow tractor, so it hasn’t seen a lot of work, but has also sat outside (under a tractor cover) so lots of let’s say, patina going on.  
 

I a, selling because I just picked up a 416-8, and that will become my winter plow / blower tractor.  I am looking for $550, but like I said this tractor is a bit of a legend!

I have cleaned it up since the pictures were taken.
