    For sale

    C-120 8 Speed.

I acquired the tractor as part of a package deal that included a tiller (which I am keeping). The tractor is in very nice shape with tight steering and upgraded LED front headlights and it appears someone recently restored it with new decals. This model has the heavy duty 1 & 1/8" rear axles with 8 pinion differential. This tractor also has the factory rear lift assembly that could be used to lift a tiller or clevis hitch. The engine is a 12hp Kohler K-301. It does not smoke, but it does have a knock at certain RPMS.

General question to the folks here: Would the knock be an indication the balancer gear is going out?

Not all K-301's had balancing gears. Before doing a tear-down, I'd suggest advancing or retarding the timing (opening or closing points) just a bit to see if it goes away. I would suggest that the knock is probably rod wear.

Questions about the rear tires.  Are they tipped in or is that a camera lens playing tricks?  What size are the rears, they appear quite skinny compared to many tires I seem of that tread pattern.
