Rollerman 290 #1 Posted June 20, 2009 Picked these wheel weights up today at a garage sale. Weight is 80 pounds a peice & there are no markings on them. I'd like to know if anyone here may no what brand/make they are?
Gene_S 93 #2 Posted June 21, 2009 Hi Stephen, They look like a set of wheel weights I saw on a 114 John Deere. Not sure if they belonged there but they looked just like those. Pretty cool and heavy!!! Thanks, Gene :thumbs2:
Sparky-(Admin) 19,542 #3 Posted June 21, 2009 Can you scrape away some paint (they do have some paint right) and try to see what the original color might have been. Mike..........
perry 82 #4 Posted June 21, 2009 i dont reconize them .
Rollerman 290 #5 Posted June 21, 2009 Thanks for the coments guys. Can you scrape away some paint (they do have some paint right) and try to see what the original color might have been. Mike.......... Mike...red, black, & yellow? Take your pick & not sure of the actual order. Gene...sent you a PM awhile back, didn't know if you received it. For now I'll just add them to the stack. Need to get some carriage bolts....a lot of carriage bolts.
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,345 #6 Posted June 21, 2009 They look like a set of wheel weights I saw on a 114 John Deere. JD didn't make a 114 tractor - they did make a 114 baler and a 114 roughage mill & feed grinder.
Gene_S 93 #7 Posted June 21, 2009 Sorry T-Mo I ment 140! So glad you had to point my mistake out and not help Rollerman out with his question. Yes I got your message Stephen sorry I never got back with you. Will touch on that more later. Gene :thumbs2:
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,345 #8 Posted June 21, 2009 I have no idea if you meant 140, 110, 111, 112, 214, 314, etc. As you should realize, wrong information is more damaging than no information.
Gene_S 93 #9 Posted June 21, 2009 WOW... And he just asked about wheel weights. Kevin, this is just one example.

big mike 13 #11 Posted June 22, 2009 How much did ya beat him down from his pitance CL price? They look home made to me.
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,345 #12 Posted June 22, 2009 Stephen, I sort of agree with Mike - they look homemade. But I'm trying to see if I can find some info from the JD crowd. So far, no luck, though. :thumbs2:
CasualObserver 3,406 #13 Posted June 22, 2009 I would disagree with home made... I mean if I were making them... I wouldn't bother with countersinking the holes. ? I'm thinking some really old two wheeler GT or they may be re-purposed from something else like combine rear wheels or something.
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,345 #14 Posted June 22, 2009 Good points, Jason, on both accounts.
Jim_M 178 #15 Posted June 22, 2009 They look like they're cast iron too. That rules out home made for most of us. Although I used to work with a guy that cast all kinds of stuff from lead in his garage at home.
big mike 13 #16 Posted June 22, 2009 Come on Steven, stop messin in the bituminous for a second and see if ya can torch off a section so we know :thumbs2:
Rollerman 290 #17 Posted June 23, 2009 Thanks again for the replies guys. You can see by the stack I have a good variety. Other than this new set of wheel weights & the ones at the top of the stack I know the make of each set. Kinda weird that way I guess....like to know more about the odd stuff. They are deffinatley cast iron. Although I do have a cast iron set with a lead core....120 pounds a peice. I think Jasons on to something with this latest set....probably off an old walk behind. perry 82 #21 Posted June 23, 2009 i asked the farm boys and one of them said . Those are the weights that go on the steering tires on a small HOUGH (HUFFY) loader. :thumbs2:

If I'm thinking right a Huffy loader is one of them small things you see used at the founderies? Now you have me thinking...I know of a place that has 4 or 5 of tem sitting out back in disrepair.
