400 hood

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if any of you guys have had any experience with the weight of gas / gastank tearing through the hood on a 400 suburban, and what is the best way to tackel this re-repair that someone else attempted to repair in the past, that did not do a very good job. What are some sugestions on braceing, for that model, so it doesn't happen again? I do have a picture, but I may have to get a closer one, to see the damage. Here is the best one I have, for now. Thanks

Cropped it for a better look.

had the same thing on a 551 I just remade the straps and made them wider at the base where it mounts to the hood so the weight is moved out a little more, looks the same at the bottom so it will not be noticed

Duke did a heck-of-a-rebracing job on his rj restore. Look for the post, and check it out. Really beefed up design.
