Cleaning Up Old Serial Number Decals

Recommended Posts

I just purchased an RJ-58 or 59. I don't know enough to tell the difference and I can't read the serial number decal on the frame since it has at least one coat of paint over it.

Does anyone here have any experience cleaning up old serial number decals but leaving the printing and serial number intact?

If so please share your process and what type of materials you used.

:omg:

I've used a old rag with carb cleaner sprayed on the rag. and then gently wipe the decal. also used lacquer thinner. just be careful not to rub extremly hard. It might take several times to clean it off so you can read it. Good Luck!!

Some times a lil wax or light rubbing compound works. Its a delicate process for sure. just take your time and go at it easy!
