I use rust o leum paint straight from can heat up outside in the sun bring in tack and blow off light coats of paint are the key when using enamel paint weather it a spray can or gun. Basecoat/clearcoat thats different story a lot of it is practice.The same is true with hammer out patch to weld in just time on the job so to speak

All fixed and painted up just need to color sand and buff out

There is plastic on it top and bottom .You need to spread plastic out away from the damage area sray can primer block with 180 reprime block with 400 and reprimr block wih 1000 wet dry paper

I use Krylon Banner red myself. I've was worried about plastic filler on these because of the vibration, but I guess its time to get out the sqeegies (spelling ) and skim coat the V18 hood to fill the pits.

Nick do not under estimate yourself it just takes practice over and over and overand over again. I have been doing autobody repair for a long time.I can tell you there is knowbody that is good at any of it the first few times. Pick a project take photos will walk you threw it there are a few other real craftsman out there eldon being one of them thank you for noticing good work kevin (muka) the name muka was givin to me by my little brother about 25 years ago just stuck

I tell ya never had a problem with body filler as long as you weld your patch or glue ( two part fuzor works great no grinding weld) wholes ,patches etc. and dont have the plastic 2 inches thick it should not be any trouble.

Yep bought one of those looks great but has pop riveted rear quarters with 2" of mud. They don't look so good when you actually drive them.

I have used epoxy primer in the past for rust work on vintage cars. Along with ceramic paint graet for rust repair. There are a lot of different primers out there. I use morton brand primer. two part urethane with catalyst and ur 30 reducer on autos. It will cover anything, pin holes, 80 grit bondo sracthes. And its one hundred dollars a gallon plus the hardner and reducer.On tractors I use laquer in a spray can its cheaper. thank you kevin

What happened to the on/off switch hole?

My dad's 400 doesn't have a "kill switch", hence, it doesn't have the hole in the hood. You have to push in the button on the point cover to stop the engine. Since this was hard to do without burning your arm on the exhaust, daddy always kept a paint paddle in the tool box to reach in and push the button. Was the switch a mid year addition?

I would not suggest sanding primer with 1000 prior to painting.

looks nice and our GT-14 will all be that same colour when we are done with her it coasts a bit but we dont mind. it looks nice in the end is all we care for.
