Hi guys, this is my first post so I hope it works... I've picked up a 854 not to long ago and I'm trying to restore as close to original as possible. My question is which seat should I be looking for. It came with the round seat and was told it was original but I've been seeing a few come on fb with square seats. I have both but would like to know what it originally came with in 1964. Also were the bug lights an option in 64? If so is there a reproduction that's close to original? Thank you in advance for any help

Welcome to red square! I am pretty sure you should have the square pan seat and the lights were a option. But I will be the first to say we want pictures.

:WRS:

I believe the square pan seat is correct for a 854. Also the light option in '64 may have been the HL-5 kit. Those are rare these days. As Chris stated we do like our :text-coolphotos: here!

This is the 854 I picked up about 2 weeks ago, just got done going thru it and bringing up everything to good running working conditions. Now it's time to starting going thru the body and start sanding and painting but didnt wanna waste my time on the seat if it's the wrong one...

WELCOME

Looks like hood has been rattle can repainted.  If the rest is original paint, it could be a good Canidste for a patina tractor.  Possible wet sand lightly and clearcoat.

It it’s your horse so make it what you want it to be!

Is a :wh: seat but yes not correct. The square pans in decent shape are becoming rare.

A few of the fellas here made their own light bars and used look alike lights or something close. That's probably the best one can do unless one happens to stumble across them at flea markets.

Lots of threads here on them - search HL-5 in the search box.

Yea I just searched them, thank you for the help... and the hood has been can sprayed, so the whole thing will be sanded and painted, if u can see the c160 in the back ground i just finished that one... so the seat is a WH? Do u know from what?

Most RJs & Suburbans and others have the five hole round pans. A common seat in the day. A few have had solid pans.  I call them five hole just because the there are five near the mount.

Nice 160 :handgestures-thumbupright: Funny how the pic makes it look like a short frame! :)

:text-welcomeconfetti:  nice tractors, I don’t mind the look of a round hood and a round seat!

Here is my 502 custom.  The round seat came with it, I seem to like it and it’s my most comfortable tractor to sit on... so I have no reason to change it.

1984 c175 twin cyl, hydro, mow deck, snowblower, led lights, all tire chains, wheel weights, removable tool rack, resealed hydro control, new oils, spare parts. Runs great no smoke no sputter, starts everytime all winter long! 800firm

1959 suburban 400 potentially original round hood without punched hole from the later year models, has some missing metal from rust. Frame and tranny is good. Took apart to stop the rust and clean it up. Rebuilt tranny with new seals and bearings and moves great! Motor turns and parts all there. Tires seem to hold air and has great potential for lots of arguments as a true 1959. 300

I was just browsing Craigslist and saw this. They are asking $175. Does anyone know what year and model this is?

I need a starter/generator belt cover for a K181s and also a hood for a round hood. Doesn't matter which round hood it's from, it's for a rat rod project for my 1960 Suburban that has an extended frame anyway and not worth restoring. Hood can be cut or modified and not perfect.
