C-175 dies when pto engaged

Recommended Posts

Just pick up a new to me C-175 auto. The problem is that the engine quits when you try to engage the pto. Is the safety switch just out of "adjustment". Can't really see in there to get a good view. Or, should I look elsewhere. Previous owner had an occasional problem with engine continuing to run after turning key off?

If you engage the PTO without sitting on the seat, or otherwise closing the seat safety switch, it will kill the engine.    Make sure the seat safety switch is good.  They're cheap and easy to replace.   Good luck.

I hate a seat safety switch. If you move in the seat sometimes then the engine starts to die till you put the weight back on center.
