Predator motor from Harbor Freight

Recommended Posts

Not sure if I am posting in the correct section.  I have an older woodsplitter with a missing motor.  For the price, I was thinking about putting a Harbour Freight motor on it. The Splitter was free to me, so I dont want to put alot of money into it.  Does anyone have any dealings with them?

I put one my dad had in a 606 roller and I love it.  It's the 212 cc and it is very powerful.  It also always starts on the first pull.  So far so good for mine.

Just be sure the crank shaft is correct for your needs. Lots of direct coupled pumps have a tapered shaft on the engine.

I have had good luck with the predator engines. If all the things line up as 953 nut points out then go for it.

My dad had one, belt drive hydraulics. Worked great BUT had to loosen the belt to start in the cold weather.

I'm surprised by the quality of these engines.  Many videos on YouTube about these.  Huge amount of aftermarket parts available for them.
