Seat and Seat cover options

Recommended Posts

FatJackDurham

Is there anyone in the forum that does seat covers or seat restoration? I was looking at my herd and I noticed that all 5 horses have completely different seats.... Not even close.

What are my options for fixing a torn seat or replacing it? one of them, the 416, has what looks like a stretch rubber cover on it that actually doesn't look to bad. Thing is, the seat it's on is not the same size an any other, so I don't know if its even available for others.

What do you guys do about torn seats?

having 5 seats redone by someone is going to be big $$$.  I knew nothing about upholstery work but watched a few YouTube videos and decided to try it myself, materials and supplies are cheap, order up a few yards of marine vinyl, seat foam, hog pliers and staples, and a good staple gun, make patterns, over size them and start sewing.  I have no clue how to sew so as grown adult I had my mom do that part! it's not that complicated you just have patience and to think a step ahead, and if you screw it up who cares start over.

The only seats I'm making now is for the 1054/953 and the  LAWN RANGER AND 655,606,656,855,856,875,1055,1075

,1056 . I'm trying to get the C160/gt14 seat back and bottom started but I'm waiting on a die to reproduce the wheelhorse design. This will take some time for me to get the lines and emblem pressed into the vinyl. But I hope to get it close to original. I'll post it as soon as I start making them.

Any seat that has the formed vinyl or plastic is cheaper to buy a seat from tractor supply or northern tool.

Yes I saw seats in tractor supply but I wondered how you attach them to the wheel horse slides. The can’t have the same hole spacing. How do people fit them on?

953 nut

I used four # 16 X 3/4" sheet metal screws on one. Worked well for me.

Most aftermarket seats have many holes to fit on different types of tractors. The seat I got from Northern Tool had 20 or more holes so it fit perfectly on my C160.

I purchased a seat from TSC.  It had several holes and mounted perfectly.

It would help to know what the seats look like that you're talking about.

These are some I have found.

@FatJackDurham Here is the seat I got for my c160.

It $63.00 at Northern Tool and has 16 holes to match almost any bolt pattern. It is a very good seat and the bolt holes matched perfectly.

I've got those on both of my GT14's.  They are a little firm, but are very comfortable and are holding up nicely.

FUnny, my GT 14 Seat is perfect, as is the one on the 310. All the others are toast. I’ll just order a couple of those.

I've thought about having someone I know do a die for me for the same reason. I'm glad I'm not the only one. He usually does leather dies, but I figure, with the right temperature, they'd work for vinyl.
