huey 7 #1 Posted August 12, 2018 I have a k-341 rebuilt with about 5-6 hours run time. My question is if i idle the engine down for a minute then throttle up it blows out a big cloud of white smoke then clears up just wondering what might cause this? pacer 3,159 #2 Posted August 12, 2018 Likely your rings havent 'seated' yet - tho at 5-6 hrs they seemly shud be, or at least close to? Did you do the rebuild your self or have it done? Hone the cylinder, take care to not 'stack' the rings? I just finished a re-ring on a K341 and it too 'puffed' smoke for the first hour or so, but just this morning I mowed for about an hour or so and I noticed the puffing had lessened dramatically indicating the rings were seating in. huey 7 #3 Posted August 12, 2018 (edited) I assembled the engine but had a machine shop do the boring (0.20 over) i made sure the ring gaps were opposite when assembled engine runs great just from idle to full throttle it lets out a cloud of white smoke and then clears up! Also when first ran engine first couple hours never noticed any white smoke at all? Edited August 12, 2018 by huey
