It was dropped in a scrap tub along with a 69 Work Horse 700 and the guy I got them from pulled both out before they were lost forever. He’s an older fella that lost interest. In one pick you can see where the excavator bucket tooth grabbed the Sears steering wheel to pull it out of the scrap tub. Anyway, I went for an old Horse and came home with this badly beaten Sears. Needed complete rewire and the differential mount bolts were all sheared from being dropped in the tub. Sickle was frozen but the engine would turn by hand. A couple weeks ago I replaced broken tie rods, freed up the sickle, carb and fuel system cleaned, fixed the diff mount mounts, made a steering wheel adapter and did basic service. Sickle bar works great now! I paid more for the new seat than I did for the tractor. I love saving this stuff! I really don’t like seeing solid American stuff melted down and going to make Chinese made washing machines. That thing sat next to a building on his farm for 15 years before I got it. Stormin 9,975 #7 Posted July 28, 2018 Well done! Can you post a photo or two of the rear hitch, please. My '78 GT16 did have an electric lift at one time. This one has been modified and bent a little but the basic arrangement is still as it should be. It’ll be this evening before I can snap a couple pics. Anything specifically? Also, at one time I would buy actuators thru Motion Industries for automated tooling that we fabricated. I believe McMaster Carr may still carry some too? Not sure on prices nowadays though. Mine’s rough but then again it was in a scrap tub! Lol I did clear coat the original paint and rusty patina too. Complete rewire job with a modern switch and solenoid.
