runs fine then ....pop pow.flames..stall cough ...STILL AN ISSUE

When you originally set the gap, there may have been some trash under the valve. As you tried to start it, it became dislodged and changed the gap setting. Just a theory.

There is without a doubt,  256 hours on this tractor, i have never seen such a clean head, or piston area in my life.......and Im 60

I have never taken apart an engine and found nothing inside   !!!!! This thing is SPOTLESS

Runs like a Kohler should now with the right intake valve setting    .009
