More house work... master bath

Couple shots of what’s keeeping me from more horsin’ around...

 

The window is being replaced by two daylight windows 50” x 12” on either side of the vanity.  The vanity is a 1930’s dresser with copper vessel sinks and I’m building the shower myself.  Tub is a 6’ soaker/jet tub.  This bath is getting its own water heater and will be tied into the wood boiler for those winter months.

 

Theres room in the corner for a urinal, but I haven’t figured if I’ll fab or buy one.  We’ll have in floor heat too.

Last bath at the old house, I built the pex into the subfloor, like a jigsaw puzzle so it was right under the cement board.  This one I’m doing the aluminum track under the subfloor... but it’ll transfer heat still.  We used to lay on the tile and watch family movi with the kids

One of my good friends made a keg into a urinal. A few cuts and welds and it is a A+ idea!!!

Just won a bigger mig/tig welder at the auction, pick it up next week.  I’ll come up with something fun to pee on!

I've had heated floors in my bath since around 2002. Best investment ever made to improve our comfort year round. When we remodeled my daughter's bathroom we used the Schluter Ditra system. Great stuff and easy to install. Constant 83 degrees feels like walking on the beach.

Now about that urinal...how did you ever convince the wife to let you put that in?

If you leave the seat up enough are don't raise it at all, she may give in.

But honey, i had to make the doorway wider.   Why else would I agree to build a custom shower except to be able to wash tractors in there,  The tractors really like the heated floor to!

I Do NOT need a welder to do that.

 

 

This sign is in my bathroom.

 

It's at "head height" as one sits on the throne so as a female of the woman type can read it clearly during all usages.

Here you go @19richie66 and @AMC RULES... I pulled these from our old Zillow listing... I did pretty much the whole house.  Steel shingle roof, new construction windows, extra foam board insulation, full house wrap, new siding, etc.  and of course, a urinal!  The bathroom used to be a family room, that big 70” bay window I hoisted up with a home built wooden scaffold and my floor jack.

Getting some framing done today!  The house is a modular, so their construction style is kind of odd.  All north/south walls are non-load bearing, even the exterior walls!  It’s like a hallway, with walls stabbed wherever.  Need to duplicate this on the other end of the wall, then I’ll knock. The window out and reframe that.
