mikeeyre74 289 #1 Posted July 13, 2018 My mom sent me a picture of my dads old wheel horse, it was the first garden tractor I ever drove. Here’s a picture of me on it back from 1996 or so… can anyone help identify this? My best guess is a C120 8 speed, late 70’s vintage.

Sparky-(Admin) 19,280 #4 Posted July 13, 2018 I see two shift levers so it’s an 8 speed. That hood decal wasn’t used on the 1978-1979 C series so it’s somewhere in the 1974-1977 range I think. Doesn’t narrow it down much, lots of possibilities there.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,440 #5 Posted July 13, 2018 1976 or 1977 if no hood ornament. Garry
Racinbob 10,199 #6 Posted July 13, 2018 Actually guys, I think it's the other way around. This is what they used in 76-77 and I know these are original: The ones on his are 78-79. We don't have a good view of the steering tower, gas tank or if it's got a wobble mount motor which would pin it down.

gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,440 #9 Posted July 14, 2018 Don't see the 5438 hood ornament in any of the 1976 parts lists. Garry

I have the original owners manual as well the original parts manual for my 76. The cover on both show an ornament as well as a tilt back fender and neither show on the actual diagrams but Squonks has both. I'm thinking his is an early 76 that Wheel Horse did their common thing of using up inventory. from the previous year.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,440 #13 Posted July 14, 2018 If mikeeyre74 tractor is a 1978-79 it may be an early one because the side hood decal appears to have only Wheel Horse on it without the model name. Garry
TDF5G 2,051 #14 Posted July 16, 2018 The hood decals look like they've been replaced to me. although the style does match the one on the rear. The originals should have the model number on it. It's most certainly and 8 speed and not older than 1976 because there is no hood ornament. It's not a B-80 or B-100 because of the highback seat and 23x9.50 tires. I think the C160s had tailights didn't they? So my guess is a C series 10-16 HP.
