ebinmaine 63,089 #1 Posted July 7, 2018 I love watching birds. Been doing this for at 35 years as a hobby. I also love living where lots of animals make their own homes. Last weekend we were thinking of taking a little canoe trip but didn't get to it. Too hot. Trina looked at the canoe when she saw the Phoebe flying around it. I guess we can wait a few more weeks to use it. 11 1
stevasaurus 22,229 #2 Posted July 7, 2018 Or a little bacon and eggs will take care of that. Phoebe eggs are a delicacy in Milbridge, Maine. 1 7

squonk 38,906 #4 Posted July 7, 2018 I like watching the tweety birds as well. I have 4 feeders with 4 different kinds of feed. My favorite is the Goldfinch. I have a feeder right out my window where my PC is. Finchy will fly in and out of a cedar tree for hours.

AMC RULES 36,945 #6 Posted July 7, 2018 (edited) We've had these little guys, hanging outside the front bay window since mid May. We're thinking...maybe two sets of mating pairs... sure has been a joy having them around this year. Edited July 7, 2018 by AMC RULES 4

Cool pics!! "Baltimores" were my late Mom's favorite bird. Saw (see) them rarely in Michigan. Just curious - Didn't they change the name to "American" Orioles or something to that effect a while back due to interbreeding etc.? I seem to remember Mom Poo Pooing the change... Wasn't until we started feeding the Baltimore's that the Orchard Orioles showed up. They sure like Grape Jelly. Thanks but the old camera is starting to show it's age. 7 minutes ago, SylvanLakeWH said: Didn't they change the name to "American" Orioles or something to that effect I'm afraid I don't know. We still go by the old names.

They were Baltimores but we were supposed to start calling them Northerns. Now I found this on Audubon. This bird was formerly considered to belong to the same species as the western Bullock's Oriole, under the combined name of Northern Oriole. Well here in Maine we still call them Baltimores....and always have.
