I'm about ready to sell my pickup truck and go find one of those 195's, man - I love that model.

Getting close. Need to swap from tires, repaint front rims and install front wheel weights. Some other touch ups with paint (details) and call it done👍

Is it just me, or is that an odd placement for the sway chains on the 3pt?

That's really turning out sharp - very nice work.

I think because the chains are a few few kinks too long it give the look they are out of place but that is the correct location👍

Ah, I see now. At first glance, it appeared the chains were on a high, fixed location. I see now they are attached to the top of the main lift arms, which allows them to keep a constant length through the lift range. The D's don't work that way - I've considered changing my 180 over somehow to the same idea so the chains won't bind when you lower the 3pt.

Yeah - those move on the same arc as the lift arms, much better than being anchored to the mounting frame on the D which is a fixed point.

Btw - is there any difference in that C series front axle as to strength versus the standard ones? If I can ever find a 195, it would be useful to know ahead of time.

Not sure on the axle but the spindles are larger and have the gussett (spelling)?  I believe they were called the HD spindle upgrade.

I'll have to check by the part numbers. I was aware of the HD spindles due to the added weight of that specific C series, but not sure on the axle casting itself. My whole drive is a preference for separate mid/rear lift controls but the D series has far too many weak areas. Sort of a shame they used the angle iron frame in the Super C - the D's frame design was much stronger.

Sarge,

I did not measure the thickness of the spindles but I would guess at least 1" maybe 1 1/8? That would make the axle different I assume as well. I has a D and pre 76 they all had broken bull gear bolts since they were not hardened and that disaster of a parking "pawl" was a nightmare. Also the tranny shaft always wears as they used the fine teeth.
