peter lena 8,038 #2 Posted June 23, 2018 looks stout, I think anything from that build time ,reflects , solid reliable and long term life. bolens, case , gravely , they are simply in a different league. given care and regular maintenance , they can live as long as you want. With kohler power and cast iron and steel, its fun to make these live on , pete 3

T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,337 #6 Posted July 17, 2018 Both Cubs look good. I had a few narrow frame Cubs also.
DennisThornton 4,769 #7 Posted July 17, 2018 How are they to work on?
RandyLittrell 3,827 #8 Posted July 17, 2018 Dennis, I think they are a breeze to work on. Trannys are bulletproof, some axle seals are about all they need unless they are a hydro, then its the front gasket and you have to split them. Not a big deal though. Clutch disk require pulling the drive shaft and sliding the motor forward, but not bad. No worse than WH, just different. Randy
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,337 #9 Posted July 17, 2018 The wide frames Cub Cadets are a little easier to work on, as there is more space between the frame. But, I basically just worked on the narrow frames as I only had one wide frame, a 1250. 1
DennisThornton 4,769 #10 Posted July 18, 2018 I had a "done deal" on a nice big "cyclops" that the seller sold to someone else. Really wanted that one!
Jim Demery 404 #11 Posted August 8, 2018 (edited) I lost my dad on May 16th of this year. He came every year and rode one of my tractors in our local parade. He is greatly missed. I did this 149 Cub Cadet as a tribute to him. Rest in peace dad.
