Shotgun shell starter

I do not know how to post the link. But go to youtube and type in ( Starting a old field Marshall with a 12 gauge shotgun shell ) I thought this was pretty wild. It's a blank shell they use and apparently was ment for starting on cold mornings.

I believe some airplanes used the same method, or at least the one in the original movie Flight of the Phoenix!

It can be quite fun watching someone starting an old Marshal like that at a show. The reactions of spectators who are unprepared can be hilarious.

Mecum's "Gone Farming" auction from last week on RFD-TV had a late 40's British made "Field Marshall Series 2" tractor that could be started with that method.  The alternative starting method was to crank it.  It had a single cylinder 2-stroke engine in it.
