opey 1 #1 Posted June 6, 2018 Hey there everyone....I'm new to the forum and a new wheel horse 310-8 owner. I made my first cut with it the other night and it works great with the exception of cutting while going up a slight incline. The mower will act as if its running out of gas. I can turn the blade off when this happens and it will run fine. I have tried slower, faster and raising the blade up as high as possible. It acts like a fuel delivery issue but don't understand why it only does it up hill even with full tank of gas. Runs fine downhill. Stumped!..... Great forum!!!
shallowwatersailor 3,213 #2 Posted June 6, 2018 It could be a number of possibilities. What size deck are you using? Blades aren't sharp. 10 hp is sometimes not enough if the incline is too steep. The float may need adjusting in the carb. Retrofit an electric fuel pump for positive fuel delivery.
opey 1 #3 Posted June 6, 2018 Thanks for feedback. It is 37" deck with new blades. I will try the fuel pump fix as it seems to be a fuel delivery problem.
tunahead72 2,329 #4 Posted June 6, 2018 Does the engine just slow down a bit, or actually try to stall completely with the mower engaged? Thinking you might have a bad seat switch. Try the same hill with the mower off.
953 nut 51,018 #5 Posted June 6, 2018 I think Ed @tunahead72 nailed it, the seat switch and PTO switch are in series and if the PTO is on and your seat switch is a bit touche it will cut out your ignition. 1
