Opinions on Used Dodge Ram Trucks

I'd love a 2014 Tundra my self. But with the OP's price range Something mid 2000's would be in the ballpark.

I'm picking up the '04 Ram with the 4.7 and 5 speed today.  I test drove it last Saturday and put a deposit on it.  They had to fix a couple of things, i.e. emergency brake and tail pipe.  While they were under it, they also replaced an upper ball joint and put new brake pads on the rear.  Here are the photos from the ad.  I'm not sure I like the fender flares, and I took my brother in law with me to look it over and the was concerned on rather or not the fender flares were hiding corrosion.  They were not as the metal behind the flares was solid and in good shape.

I order a hitch for it from etrailer and it already arrived.  I just need to go get the truck today and then I can install the hitch on it.

Here in New England fender flares on an older Dodge mean rusty fender wells. It's good that you had someone you trust verify what's under them.

It's odd that there are no emblems anywhere on it .

 Good luck with it!

Thanks, Mike.  Yeah, those era of Ram trucks were prone to corrosion above the bed fender wells.  This one is solid in those areas.  There are a couple of cigarette burns in the seat, so a prior owner was a smoker. But, there is no cigarette smoke smell in the cab of the truck.  Must of use Fabreeze prior to letting it go.:text-thankyoublue:

I like the flares but IMO if you have them painted along with the bumper cover the same color as the truck I think it would look really sharp. Nice truck:)

Nice truck, am a Dodge fan myself. They started screwing them up in 06, and hate the new ones. Will be building an 05 4x4 hemi quad cab from the frame up this fall. Frame from Florida, body from Texas, and just bought a Laramie out of Indiana that was side swiped for the interior and drive  train. On the 4.7 engine, be very religious on oil changes and consider having a flush done now. Might pull a valve cover to see if any build up. The 4.7 design and it's little brother the 3.7 v6 are notorious for failures due to sludging from lack of oil changes and condensation collecting in the oil. Give it TLC and should last long time. My 09 Jeep Commander has the 315 hp 4.7 and I love it.

My '01 Dakota has the 4.7 and has just under 170,000 miles. Still runs good, just replaced the power steering cooler.  It's 4WD, so it will be designated my winter truck.
