JohnBoy 1 #1 Posted May 24, 2018 While doing service on my new 1989 310-8, I saw that the fuel line was getting pinched by the steering fan gear. There was a small tear, and rather than wait for it to get worse, I figured I'd replace it. Is the fuel line supposed to pass through by the steering gear? Was it routed incorrectly? Maybe there's a diagram that I'm missing? Also the fuel filter that was installed was the large Kohler filter, they only had the small Kohler available at Tractor Supply. The Kohler book indicated the small one was the correct filter. Does it matter which one I use?
KC9KAS 4,741 #2 Posted May 24, 2018 Either filter is fine....any filter is better than no filter! I don't know how the fuel line should be routed, but I KNOW IT SHOULDN'T GO THROUGH THE FAN GEAR! I would say route it in a fashion that you can secure it with "zip ties" to the frame away from heat and moving parts, yet easy to replace the filter!
