Bought a Brinley plough - will it fit my horse?

Recommended Posts

landsurveyor

Just bought a Brinley plough home, its darn heavy (about 42 inches length).

My question is will the slot hitch on the rear of my Charger 12 be strong enough to lift it , as dont want to break off the rear end of my tractor!!

Anyone tried it or got any relevant photos?

Thanks in advance guys.........

I dont know about the one you bought...Sounds longer than the ones Brinly offered for the Sleeve Hitch...

But it does sound about the right length compared to the ones I have.

A picture is worth a thousand words....lol

I will take a photo in the light tomorrow, and try and get it on here.

Will also re-measure it!!

Cool video!! My plough does look very similar.

Thanks

Here's mine. Disregard the red paint, it's a 8 inch Brinly:

You'll need a clevis hitch. It will fit ANY Unidrive (hydro or mechanical) tranny. Looks like this:

I doubt you would break your hitch or rearend but might be a good time to check that cable for any fraying

Unless it came with the slot hitch adapter...

Then I believe you could use a slot hitch.

Have taken a picture now, After comparing it , I think the frame is the same size as the one kevin has shown, but the "blade" appears to be larger.

It is definately 42 inches long.

Was just woried about my hitch lifting the weight, as its very heavy (about 30kgs)

Thanks again.

Hi simon.

Looks like you have got the right plough. Here is a picture of the plough that i borrowed to make my plough. I dont have the exact length but it will be about 42" and they are quite heavy ploughs. If you get the right hitch it should be no problem.

Thanks for your reply,

I am glad I have the right plough at least!

Looks like I will have to make a clevis hitch, as I cant seem to find one here in the UK.

Could anyone please tell me the size of (main part) steel used in the hitch shown above, so I can make it strong enough!!

Thanks for all of your help guys, I will get there soon..........
