Spark plug gap

Recommended Posts

Replacing my spark plug, but the K241 manual has 3 different gap specifications:

Battery/Breakerless .035

Magneto .025

Gaseous fuel engine .018

I don't know which applies to me. It is on a 1067 and has a starter/generator.

Also, spark plug recommended is RH10C which is a resistor. Should I just go out and buy it or are there any thoughts about better replacements?

Correct plug if running Champions, some of the fellas are turned off to Champions but I never have problems with them.

Any brand .025 gap.

You have a "Battery" ignition system and the plug gap should be .035".    I too use Champion H-10 C plugs.

I have kept it gapped at .035 and runs great. Both Kohler manual and service manual specify .035. I also have a John Deere 110 and the John Deere service manual for my serial number with a K241AS says gap the spark plug at .020 for battery ignition. I didn't believe it so I double checked that I was reading right and that it was referring to my engine. It very clearly states .020. Can somebody with more understanding than I have explain to me how 2 battery ignition K241s need to be gapped differently?

Both manuals call for Champuon H-10. Both call for .020 points gap. Both call for .009 and .018 intake and exhaust. Is it just wrong?

Scratch that. John Deere manual calls for .010 intake and .020 exhaust. So what is this some setup that John Deere thinks gets extra performance out of this engine?
