Tyler71 14 #1 Posted May 8, 2018 Hey guys i have a 702 k161s 7hp it has the vacuum fuel pump that bolts to the case where a mechanical pump goes and i wanted to know if i could put a mechanical in place of it? Do all the camshafts have a lobe for the pump? where do you suggest i get one from i think the new ones are plastic.
Mike'sHorseBarn 2,475 #2 Posted May 8, 2018 Don't get a new one just rebuild the old one. http://www.then-now-auto.com/product-category/fuel-pump-kits/kohler-fuel-pump-kits/

Mike'sHorseBarn 2,475 #4 Posted May 8, 2018 Mechanical one is no better than a vacuum one when working properly. Any reason for wanting the mechanical over the vacuum?
rmaynard 14,805 #5 Posted May 8, 2018 You will have to get the spec number off your engine and find the part number for the camshaft. Cross-reference that number and see if it is the same as a camshaft from an engine that uses a mechanical pump.
pfrederi 17,028 #6 Posted May 8, 2018 or pull eh pump and crank the engine you will see a cam action if there is one Hold your finger on it and turn the engine by hand (Spark plug out!!!)
Tyler71 14 #7 Posted May 8, 2018 (edited) i just think i would trust mechanical more than vacuum and think just more reliable i just looked up the camshaft and shows the same with mechanical Edited May 8, 2018 by Tyler71
