WheelHorseJunkie71 2 #1 Posted May 6, 2018 I have a 68 commando 8, there is a local to me seller who has a few dozer blades but has only one bracket, which he called a short frame bracket. Is this what I need? Thanks Aaron
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,491 #2 Posted May 6, 2018 Here is the 1968 blade supplied for you tractor. Click on the picture. Notice the rear axle quick hitch mounts on the front of the rear axle housing. This may be what the seller calls the short frame bracket. Later on the frame was a bit longer and the hitch mounted on the bottom of the axle housing. Later again the blade width was increased from 42" to 48" and the A-frame was made to fit both the short frame which you have and the long frame models so the last blades in 2007 or so for this series of tractors will all fit. Here is a later model with the type of hitch that continued to the end. The lever to change the blade angle often needs to be reversed or slightly bend to clear pto linkage but not a big deal. WheelHorseJunkie71 2 #4 Posted May 7, 2018 Thanks for sharing this. So I believe one of the three the seller has is that ‘later’ longer plow version. The other two looks identical except that the handle is smaller. Any pros and con’s between choosing one version or the other as each could work?

gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,491 #6 Posted May 7, 2018 I would choose the later version that mounts under the axle housing. Those A-frames have 2 sets of holes at the rear so the crossbar can be located to accommodate both the long frame and short frame tractors. Depending on the age the blade may be 48" wide which is better when angled. The tires don't run in as much snow that is pushed to the side. The hitch mounted under the axle housing allows a tiller to be mounted or the early version of the lawn vacuum blower. Later models just give you more options. Your next tractor may be a long frame C or 300, 400, 500-Series. Garry Adding Here is a list of the blades in the order they were produced. Notice the blade width is in the later model numbers. Where there are two numbers the blade came in two packages so they could mix and match to fit the different tractor models. WheelHorseJunkie71 2 #7 Posted May 7, 2018 They have a few early, but also the later version, which I think I’ll opt for. Thanks for the information.
