SgtBob 27 #1 Posted April 23, 2018 Just wondering if the Onan in the 416 has the same valve seat issues as the 520. I have heard a lot about the 520's but not the 16HP Onan. I would believe they are the same but would like someone with more knowledge to chime in. Thank you for any insight you can provide.
littleredrider 408 #2 Posted April 23, 2018 I would think so since it’s the same setup...but maybe they don’t produce the heat a 20horse does?
BESTDOGEVER 218 #3 Posted April 23, 2018 I am pretty sure that they are the same. The problem is that the air flow is bad on that cylinder leading to the failure . There are many posts here about ventilating that belt guard that will help a lot
SgtBob 27 #4 Posted April 23, 2018 Thank you for your time. That's what I was thinking but wanted another opinion.
Pollack Pete 2,273 #5 Posted April 23, 2018 Gotta keep oil leaks around the oil filter at bay.The dirt and grass clippings stick to motor oil like a magnet. Also a good compressed air blast behind the cooling tins after every mow will help keep the crap out of those rear cylinder cooling fins.I've only used a 520H for snow blower duty.Never had any worries about over-heating that big Onan.
