Lane Ranger 10,495 #1 Posted April 16, 2018 (edited) Ok getting ready to make a Sickle Bar Mower Shaft Support Frame Assembly for one of my sickle bar mowers. This frame was made by someone else who wanted to use on a 42 inch Wheel Horse Sickle Bar Mower. However, it needs the 3/4 shaft, the end insert bearings and covers, the center pulley and the drive shaft pulley to run the drive belt from the Wheel Horse motor's PTO. I rebuilt one of these frame support assembly pieces two years ago for a 50 inch Sickle Bar Mower I have. Bob Maynard and Denny Clarke get credit for the rebuild process on the snowplower and sickle bar mower insert bearing replacement process. They rebuilt the original bearings in their attachments with a different size bearing and an oil sleeve bronze bushing. I will do the same with this assembly. I ordered the bearings and the bushings today. I have attached photos of my frame assembly box and insert bearing covers that I have for this project. I have also included the specification sheets from McMaster Carr for the 3/4 bronze bearing or bushing to be used and the Bearingon.com 7/8 bearing (UC205-14) I will post more pics later as this project progresses. The credit goes to Bob, he did all the research on that, I just copied his idea and used it on my sickle bar.

Lane Ranger 10,495 #6 Posted April 17, 2018 I purchased a 5 inch pulley with 3/4 inch shaft with a keyway to use as the Sickle Bar Mower Frame Assmbly drive belt pulley. This was a pulley from a Case garden tractor mower deck but is the same size as the original Wheel Horse pulley that runs to the motor PTO or drive pulley. The pulley is heavy duty.
Lane Ranger 10,495 #7 Posted April 20, 2018 Ok did some more work on the Sickle Bar Mower Frame Assembly today. Found a 3/4 shaft I acan take to the amchine shop to get some keyways cut for pullies. Found a good center pulley with a keyway and started paiting my drive pulley. I have taken off the bottom plate on my other Sickle Bar Mower Frame Assembly and I am having a new plate made for the new assembly.

Lane Ranger 10,495 #9 Posted April 22, 2018 My Sickle Bar Mower Frame Assembly just got a bottom belt guard plate made! I used one from my 50 inch sickle bar mower as a template. A friend's daughter home from college actually did this work in his metal shop! I think she has talent for doing this type of work for sure!
