The Gman 476 #1 Posted April 11, 2018 Going to look at a 212H tomorrow. Verticle shaft. Is this an Eaton tranny? PO says it has a solid motor but the starter went out on it. The price is real good. Anyone have one?
squonk 38,570 #2 Posted April 11, 2018 I had a 210H. Owned it for 20 yrs. Not an Eaton. It is a yard tractor. Light duty. Lots of guys will poo poo it but I only replaced a tie rod and a fuse in mine and I mowed, plowed snow and ran an Allis Chalmers snow blower off of it
The Gman 476 #3 Posted April 11, 2018 Thanks squonk, Light duty is ok. I have a few beasts in the herd already. Was going to let my daughter use my A800 Ranger this year but, if I get this one might let her use it, being a hydro and all. And if it works out I have a plow I could modify / fab to fit for the winter too. The gman
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,444 #4 Posted April 11, 2018 The 212-H was 1989-1992 Hopefully the tractor numbers are still readable on the decal under the left side of the seat. You don't see lawn tractors with cast iron front axles any more. Garry

The Gman 476 #6 Posted April 11, 2018 I was curious about the year. Couldn't find it in the " wheelhorseallyears " PDF Thanks. Hopefully the engine model # is visible. It would make life alot easier.
The Gman 476 #7 Posted April 24, 2018 Well I hummed and hawed over this for a week then it hit me...... where can you get a good running horse for the price of cheepo push mower. Up here a push mower will run about 175.00. After kicking myself in the you know what I went and got it. It's solid, clean, great condition, a 12 hp, electric pto and a hydro. Model lists it as a 1989. Here's the new addition to the herd.

I have it's bigger brother a 246 and it has an Eaton 751 in it with a reservoir & tow valve just like that. Seems like none of the verts are listed in all years. You should get some years out of that G-Man you take care of it & real easy for your girl to run. .
EricF 589 #9 Posted April 24, 2018 The hydro probably is an Eaton, just one of the all-in-one pump+transaxle units with the fan on top of the input pulley -- typical lawn tractor configuration. Being that it's a Wheel Horse, though, the sheet metal tends to be a little thicker, the hydro transaxle is probably spec'd a little better, and the operator controls are all a bit nicer and derived from its bigger cousins. Take care of it and it'll outlast any modern lawn tractors from the big box stores... and probably from the big name brands too.
