Kohler Trivia Question

Recommended Posts

RJ Hamner

Started tearing down a 1968 K301S for a rebuild.  I notice that there is an "A" stamped on both the engine block (right between the valves) and on top of the piston.

Is this an "assemblers" mark?  Inspectors mark?  OR?????

I didn't find any marks like this on the 1979 K301 I rebuilt a while ago.

Just askin.

953 nut

My guess would be a shop rebuilt it at one time and identified the parts this way prior to cleaning and inspection.

That would make sense. At least they didn't stamp "This End Up" on top the piston. :P
