Tool box.

Tractor boy

Well I’m back, and with a new box And a season of snow plowing and a repair under my belt. The tool box is a craftsman 6 drawer home project center. I know not huge but between the bench and various pegboard hooks I don’t need much. I was also curious as too what everyone uses for tool box

drawer liner.

Nice!

I use dollar store kitchen drawer liners that resemble foam rubber in a net.

Do you have any problems with catching dirt and the like in the holes?

I tried the weaved kitchen drawer liners they do work but do seem to catch the dirt as well, the HF General boxes I got a couple years back came with drawer liners, but at work they use 1/4 and 1/2" foam and lay the tools on the 1/2" trace them then cut out to have each tool it's own specific spot when done the 1/4" is a base layer and the 1/2" shows what tools may be missing, Jeff.

See my problem is I don’t want to spend a lot of money. Otherwise I would just go with kaizen foam.

I almost always clean my tools as a group when done using them or after they sit around the shop for awhile.

They're not dirty when I put them away... If I put them away...

I like @WVHillbilly520H Jeff's thought about the double liner with one being a "cut-out tool map."

Yes but I’ve heard hb’s liners don’t last and they peel up.

I have a 3 section craftsman tool box i bought new in 81. I use that same liner and I have had them for about 10 years now. I also clean my tools before I put them away and I use various trays to hold smaller items in place.

The HF liners don't peel up , I bought a used Snap on tool box that the PO had some kind of white looking liner that was a mess. Every time I took something out of the drawer the liner moved. I put that stuff in the round trash can.

:P

Did it HAVE to be round?

I mean could you have used a square one? A rectangular one?

I have no idea why that struck me funny.

Of course I'm only 5......

Harbor Freight General 44" roller with matching top chest had a Wally World Stanley 24" roller with the kitchen liner but I liked stuffing small parts in with the tools and that's how the dirt gets in there too.

Usually I just throw the in the garbage container the city provides for $17.50 per month.  It cost $7.00 per load to carry to the dump and cost more in gas to make the trip in wait in the extra lonnnggggg line.

The HF stuff does work good. Even the Snap ON and Mac Tools stuff curled and slid around.

Jim get one of these to help find your tool box! :)
