I got a 98 Z71 Silverado, 263,065 miles. Those 5.7 Vortec engines seem to be great from that time period. I know Chevy sold a heap of them.

Oh yeah they did! The GM 5.7 was in everything including boats! I think 1999 or 2000 was the last year for that motor, next was the 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0.

Have a 2002 Savana van with a 5.7L, engine. Over 200,000 on it. Engine was never a problem but the rest of it is breaking down so it needs to go.

Nice truck Mike, but for that kind of money you could've had me build you a custom Wheel Horse tractor instead!

I have a 2000 Silverado I bought in Nov of 99 with the 5.3 vortex. The only real problem i had was the suspension was too soft for towing my camper so i had an air lift system installed and never had any more problems. It has 265k on it and the clear coat is peeling and since I'm only a few years from retirement I'm thinking of replacing it with a 2015 or in that price range z71 next summer.

Nice truck, although I am more of a Ford guy myself. I would love to have a new F350, but just can't see spending that much money on a new truck, I just keep driving and fixing the old ones. Picked this 2003 Silverado up for a steal a couple weeks ago, and it's the newest thing I've ever owned, of course I kept my old trusty 89 F250 for the heavy duty jobs, but the 5.3 is so much easier on gas for road trips than the big 4605ac16b2a82deb_2003ChevroletSilverado.png.0381e414fd3d227c52754b1e9322bc14.png5ac16aeda5630_1989FordF250.jpg.0d17ac37026cff11fe0bb84b0b687764.jpg
