1277??

Look through Perry's pictures,  his was an undisturbed original '67.

On second thought,  looks like Photobucket is holding those hostage like so many others but there are 2 other correct 1277 models. I'd post pics of mine but they're on a dead laptop...

The 2 spoke wheel on that model is pretty large compared to the rest.

Sarge

Now that's interesting. That looks like a 953/1054 steering wheel.

Well, thanks for the help on the wheel, didn't mean to hijack @WHX14's thread.

Its threads like this that really gives all the members info on what their tractor should be like.

@WHX14, this was a fun thread! How about you find another one for next week?  :wh:

Lol thanks Randy. ..maybe we should do a thread called steering wheel ID 101!

Your 1277 looks like it got changed for clearance to the FEL. Sarge is correct in the orginal is larger diameter.

They are the same steering wheel.

Thank you Mike for showing an old dog a new trick. As many times I browsed a Steiner  Catalog I never saw them.  I do need one for a Suburban I do not need to keep original and this will be way less time consuming than restoing one all beat up and missing chunks out of. Now to get the old one off the shaft... :angry-banghead: Hopefully one nice thing about not having a factory one on a tractor is it MIGHT come off easier!

Should come off a little easier since it was definitely off after the factory one. But hey, steering wheels usually never like to cooperate lol.

Since you are going to replace the suburban steering wheel you should be able to make cuts in the old whee to make it come off easier.

Drilling it out to 3/4" is easier than restoring a beat up one.

      a little heat will do the trick and save it for a member building a Rat Rod :wh:

That is what I was thinking too. They probably had a bin of them left over from '65 and used them up too.  The Ponds certainly gave us a lot to talk about due to their thrifty nature! I don't know, but doubt that any of us were on the assembly line at 515 West Ireland Road in 1967 so we don't know for sure what is actually authentic, we just know what we have seen on most of the '67 :wh: we have seen.

As @RandyLittrell said, sure makes for an interesting thread!                 :woohoo:

All I know is that thing would look great freshened up sitting next to these two at the shows...

As it looks like a 1077 or 1277 it would be a great compliment to these sequential hydros (Dad’s 875 and Dan’s 1076!)

Cant wait to see it in person Jim!!!:greetings-clappingyellow:

My thoughts exactly Richard, anyone know the approximate od of a #40 spline?

All I'm thinking is 16?  Right now, there's 3 that Emory and I need to pick up.  Without them we're at 13 running, one nonrunner, 1 parts.  Oops, I lost count of how many we have, never mind.  I won't pick on you anymore:ROTF:!  But in all fairness, at least three of the ones we have now will probably have to go to other homes to support the three we still have to pick up!

Got her in the shop, deck off and ready for a bath found some good things found some bad. The usual of undoing cobbles of previous PO's.The battery tray is toasted but can be saved. Hood is bent up and doesn't line up with the dash well and maybe the hardest thing to fix without doing a full resto. Slot hitch is frozen and will prove a challenge. Bonus... lift cable is free and works!

Heres that decal on the tank tray @Racinbob... mercedes benz!.......nice to know a PO had a sence of humor! He sure did like to scribble things on it with a sharpie!

It's always interesting, to me anyway, to wonder what somebody might have been thinking back in the day when they did their fixes. Did they did they wonder some 40-50 years later some idiots like us would be trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear and puttting the time, effort and money into these tractors that we do? :D Enjoy the pics.....
