Can someone tell me the thickness of the Breather on my c160?

I don't have good access to a breather filter for the engine on this. I'm going to make one out of Scotch-Brite material. Does the thickness matter?

Scotch bright may be too dense.

Last thing you want is for in not to be able to breath.

you are talking about your breather for the valves correct?

Yep that's the one...

I wondered about the density when I compared the two but my old one is Very disintegrated so I have little to compare really.

Other suggestions of around the house stuff would be welcome.  Maybe poke some small holes in the scotchbrite?

Nay won’t do that either. Last I checked Kohler still sells them.

a tecumseh breather element might be easier to find on the cheap

Availability Isn't the problem.... In few days...

I didn't know I needed one when I ordered the gasket kit.

Problem I have is I kind of live in the middle of nowhere and I don't want to go get one tomorrow.

Leave it out for a few days until you get the "right stuff" unless it really dusty outside (not likely this time of year) the engine will not be harmed.

@pfrederi

Is it accessible with the carb in place?

I agree. Leave it out. It’s easier with the carb off but it can be done.

I didn't get around to messing with the tractor today. I was having to much fun with a machete..... B)

My honey and I spent some time clearing a hiking path on the property.

Maybe tomorrow I can find a correct breather.
