I was going to suggest a can of Berryman's for the carb....maybe the thumb too! That thumb looks awfully familiar! :laughing-rolling:

Got started on the wiring. Im not sure yet but I may have got the wrong ignition switch.

Made a bracket to mount the start solenoid. Also put the fuses under the seat. Got to find some kind of clips to hold the wires in place and some harness tape.

The middle terminal off the regulator I think went to the red light in dash. It wasnt working, but is it supposed to come on with key on then go out when charging?

And

The left terminal I think went to cig lighter. Is that hot all the time or only when running?

When I first got this thing it had a battery cable run straight to the key switch right behind the fuel tank without any fuses anywhere so it should be a little safer now

Also drilled the seized screws out of the drive pully and got some new ones.👍

That switch has a "M" (mag. ground) terminal on it, battery run switch has "I" (ign. terminal to coil) #103990

This simple diagram may be helpful. As Mr Addison told you the switch you have is not correct. Also there are no fuses shown on the diagram, but they are strongly recommended. Your lights can come off the "A" terminal of the key switch or the "L" terminal of the regulator.

What brand / model tires are you running on the back?  The tread looks a lot like the original :wh: tires.

This is looking great! Are you using 12 or 14 gauge wire for the harness?

They are Russo brand I believe. Very similar tread pattern, and a bit wider than the originals.

14 gauge mostley, its what I had 😁 running bigger stuff for the start circuit

Started working on the exhaust. Got the wiring mostly finished up, I need to get a battery and battery cables still yet.

Round 2 of the dash decal was a success 👍

Started working on fenders, there are a few dents i would like to fix. Looks like somebody at some point tryed to pick the rear end up by the fenders in the back. Ive got it pretty close to where it should be. Also drilled some new seat pan holes, previous owner didnt do a very good job there lol.

I glued the new brake lining in. Used gorilla glue, although messy it worked good.

I havnt searched around yet but if anyones got a pic of throttle cable routing I would appreciate it

And one more question, is there a minimum thickness for the pto clutch disc?

Throttle is the easy one. The choke cable on the other hand is the fun one. Choke cable goes over the battery, between the bearing plate and the block, then up to the choke.

Be careful with that fuel filter - I've seen a lot of those leak pretty easily, they like to loosen the two ends from vibration.

Grade C china 10 pack fuel filters. $5.99.

I have a few left over from other projects. You would think I would learn lol

I know, many folks have made that mistake. I prefer the filters directly at the fuel tank but on some models that's not really an option. For the most part, I just use good quality Wix inline plastic filters or a sediment bowl and micro screen. Reason I brought it up - have seen several vehicles with those filters catch fire, badly. The end seals leak too easily as most of the bodies are not machined correctly, typical mass produced junk goods.

I will for sure be buying a quality fuel filter. Inline petcock too, leaking fuel is seriously no joke!

No, fuel fires are definitely not funny -

flames2big.jpg.098b69b7c842c0d29a3613b5d0d0a707.jpg

That's what happens with a Chinese knockoff fuel pressure regulator - feeding a huge Weber DCNF40 carb on a high compression 4cyl, the ignition coil didn't care what it was fed, just fired off the fuel anyway. It also started a crankcase fire, which I gladly noticed the smell of burning paint on the oil pan and promptly closed off the engine breather vent to put it out. No real damage other than an oil change and all the burnt paint on the rear corner of the truck. The same week, had a fuel line fire on the old 1277 - cheap fuel filter split at a seam, lesson learned. I sure miss the days of wheeling in the woods, but no way my body or wallet could stand it now.

Progress update: been kind of slow going but I got the battery in, cables routed and a few other odds and ends done. Hope to drop the hood and fenders off to be blasted next week. Need to coat the fuel tank this weekend and then I think I can fire it up.

Finally got a chance to seal my fuel tank.  I had to solder some rust pin holes that appeared after I stripped the old pain off. I leak tested it and it held so after the sealer it will for sure be good. Im using Caswell and they say you could just use duck tape over any holes so my haggard solder job should be good. Mixed up some epoxy and coated the tank. Needs to dry for 24 hours then I may need to repaint it because I spilled some epoxy on it eats up spray paint quickly but so close to firing it up.

I had to get emergency surgery last week (appendicitis) 👿so I was not able to get my hood out for blasting. I have the deck almost rebuilt but the grass is already needing mowing so the c81 will have to do it. Thats ok though, she can always get the job done!

Nice save on the gas tank! Looks like your getting close & I'm getting anxious to see the finished product.

Hope all is well after your surgery.

Never saw that brand of tank sealer before. Anxious to see how it holds up!
