953 nut 51,663 #6 Posted January 22, 2018 None of them! That one drop of water won't even cover the bottom of # 1. If it is a continuous flow then # 5 would fill first. 2
wallfish 15,919 #7 Posted January 22, 2018 If "filled firstly" means filled to the top. it's 5.

All you guys that picked 3, take a bow, or maybe you just got lucky. all for playing. Just found this and checked the diagram profusely. It bugged me that the bottom read "99% will fail" so my honey and I started looking carefully... We ended up with 3 as well. Good one!! Thanks for posting.

Racinbob 10,276 #15 Posted January 23, 2018 Unless the faucet dumps water in it faster than the connecting tubes can drain it #2 would never get a drop in it before #3 fills up.
roadapples 6,981 #16 Posted January 23, 2018 (edited) I hate these things. I don't see how 3 can get more than 1/2 full until after 5 fills.. nevermind , just saw the pipe going into 5 isn't.... Edited January 23, 2018 by roadapples

Actually I saw this on facebook. After doing an in depth study of the inlet and outlet elevations of each cup and calculating the differential head pressure across each cup, determining rates of flow, I confidently selected #4. Then Mrs K glanced at the picture a few seconds and informed me cups 4,5,and 6 would not see a drop of water due to the blocked pipes and 2 and 7 would not hold water due to the hole in botton of #7. That leaves #3 as the only one that can fill up. I'll still wear my favorite Tee Shirt though.
WHX?? 46,756 #24 Posted January 23, 2018 Ok Ed now you asked for it ... How much water we talking here GPM .....whats the size of the pipes ...flow rates... cup volumes,... discharge rates? Lets crunch some numbers..... second thought lets notI do enough of that at work!
