K181S Does Flywheel positioning matter?

Recommended Posts

Rustyred

Hi Folks,

I am putting my Kohler K181S back together for my C-81. I can't find applicable info for my question:

Does the positioning of the flywheel/magneto on the shaft matter? Are there timing issues affecting how the electrical system functions?

Or is there no timing issues to worry about?

Thanks for your much appreciated help.

There is a keyway on the crank and in the flywheel...sort of fixes it for you

Too true. Thanks. A friend had told me this was something I really had to pay attention to so I thought I'd throw it out there. So thanks.

BTW - I am missing the wire that runs from the ignition coil to the battery. See picture below. Any idea where I can acquire one?

Thanks.

The wire from the small + terminal on the coil goes to the ignition switch I terminal not the battery  Make your own 14 ga wire is more than sufficient.

Oh dear - I wrote this wrong. Thanks for the patience. ( it's Thursday)

I meant the wire which runs from the ignition coil to the Spark Plug!

Standard plug wire. Available almost anywhere small engine parts are sold. Also available on Amazon and eBay.

Should be the "I" terminal on ignition switch. "S" goes to solenoid.

This drawing should be helpful.
