2-stage snow blower question

Recommended Posts

toddr

Had the first snow of the season, about 6 inches and the new to me snow blower worked great.  After using it, I was going over the instructions once again and found that I am missing something referred to as the discharge chute wire.  Number 21 in the below picture, part number 12-2040.  What is this for and do I need it?

This thing is a blast, I can't wait for the next snow.

WHX??

Most of mine are missing too. I think rocks or ice chunks take them out. I think they are supposed to keep the rocks form breaking your car or front window!

lots of guys take them out and put a piece of metal in there to help the discharge. I have yet to do this but is on the honeydo list! :)

I'm missing one on mine too.  I've always figured it was a guard so that I don't put my hand in there. I can't see where it serves any other function.

I thought it was a guard to keep idiots from losing a hand, so I took mine off so I could reach in there and carefully unclog the spinning auger.    :laughing-rolling:

The one on Denny's is a factory part, while mine is homebrewed, I believe it's still available through Partstree.com, #19,  Jeff.

That is what I believe also, a guard to keep your hand out if manualy clearing snow packed in the chute.

Got mine from the dealer on my single stage, 30 / 35 bucks. Pricey for a bucks worth of metal, IMHO.

Mine only cost me a few choice words and time, but I'm sure I got the idea from here in a post from a while back, and shot of it on the deuce, Jeff.
